“This place comes back to me in my dreams.”

I stayed here for a month last year while working on a film and the views are second to none. I felt every day as though my eyes would just give out because they couldn't take in all of the beauty.
I was there with co-workers so I saw a lot of the suites - two huge suites in the main house are amazing, like homes. I stayed in a two bedroom room in the yellow house, which is a little hike up from the main house, but it's good for you to walk! We had a few language issues, the internet is a real problem, and the downside is that you're in the middle of nowhere, so you need a car or driver to go anywhere, but if you're here on vacation, this shouldn't be a problem. It just got old because we were there for so long. The food in the restaurant here is very expensive and not that impressive for the prices. No matter what, though, this place is very close to perfection, and breakfast on the terrance looking out at the sea and over to Monaco...ah, bliss.

“One of the world's most stunning hotels”

This is one hotel that everyone should have the opportunity to experience at least once in their lifetime. Located on a private peninsula, it offers breathtaking views of the Mediterranean. It's a very small hotel, with only 14 suites and 4 rooms. We had a suite on the second level on the main part of the hotel. From the left side of our large bedroom, the floor to ceiling windows overlooked the water down the coast toward Monaco. Directly in front of our bed, we had an entire wall of floor to ceiling glass looking out over the Mediterranean. The suite consisted of the bedroom, a huge private patio with electric awnings, an office/study, two bathrooms, and a huge dressing room. The study also had beautiful water views. With the blinds electrically controlled, a push of a button gave us the feeling we were in a James Bond movie. The suites are also arranged so that our suite could become part of a larger suite that includes multiple bedrooms, living room, dining room, kitchen, etc. With the small number of rooms and guests you have an experience which is very different from that of the typical larger hotel.

We arrived later than expected, around midnight, and were greeted by the General Manager. He was very friendly and spent a good 20 minutes giving us a tour around the hotel and explaining it's history. Service was top notch. We stayed there 2 nights and did not get to eat dinner there, so can't comment on the food. We had a car and Monaco is an easy 10 minute drive.

The infinity pool overlooking the water is beautiful. They also have another pool inside, which is below ground, together with the exercise room, but it also has full windows overlooking the Mediteranean. Even the sauna had water views. But don't come here expecting a real beach type experience. The hotel is situated on a bluff. They do have a small beach area off to one side of the hotel with sand, but there are large pebbles and it's a bit rocky going into the actual water. You could certainly use the beach, but it's not like a beach in Hawaii or Miami.

The pictures on their website are good, but it's really one of those places that is so magnificently panoramic that it's difficult to capture the sweeping beauty of the setting. We can't wait to go back.

“Not perfect, but so gorgeous I didn't care”

If it weren't so expensive I'd be back there all the time. But it's quite beautiful, the staff was extremely helpful, and I loved it. It was several years ago, but the food in the pool-restaurant was nothing special. In addition, we were staying in a new section and there were a few glitches, but nothing I cared about. The beach, at least at that time, was nothing to write home about.

If it's in the budget and you don't mind searching out some of the Michelin-starred restaurants in the vicinity, it's a gorgeous and quiet place.

“Brilliant hotel - charming people”

My husband and I stayed in this hotel, arriving on 8th inst., for 2 nights. It is a beautiful hotel in a beautiful situation with very charming people working there. We very much enjoyed our food. They were extremely kind to my husband who is asthmatic by providing a humidifier in the room which he used and a portable air conditioning unit and showed concern as to whether or not he was comfortable which
he was - lovely people, lovely experience and we would definitely return - the accommodation is excellent. Max and Lesley Draffen

“A curate's egg”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2006

The hotel is well positioned for visiting the coast from Nice to Monte Carlo. The grounds and pool area are quite breathtaking with a superb sea water infinity pool. The beach, which a previous reviewer was disappointed was not open, is nothing to get excited about. It is a few metres long and consists of sharp pebbles. However those with tough feet can sunbathe, swim and snorkel.
The management and staff were unfailingly helpful and went to a great deal of trouble to accomodate certain problems which were of our own making.
However beware! The superior rooms (currently 500 euros per night) are absolutely tiny. They have a very small sitting area. and have a mezzanine bedroom. This sounds quite attractive until you have to climb the steep steps to reach it and you find that your television is up there. It means that the only place to watch tv is lying on the bed.
The next category of rooms (currently 700 euros) was better but far from spacious.
I suspect that the suites, although expensive, represent better value.
The restaurant seems to be a bit of a disaster. We did not eat there. This seemed to fit with the general trend and the place was more or less deserted during our week there. Since we didn't sample the food I can't pass comment but the lighting was uninviting, ranging from stygian gloom outside to prison searchlight intensity inside. The general atmosphere in the evening was pretty dead, presumably because most guests went out or ate in their suites.
The pool bar area was very pleasant for lunch but the food was pretty ordinary and overpriced.

  • Liked — pool area and garden
  • Disliked — very cramped rooms and poor restuarant atmosphere
