“Don't Stay Here - Poor Security”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2010

First impressions of the place were good - clean and modern reception and restaurant were clean and modern. However, it soon became blindingly obvious that this was the only part of the complex that was clean and modern.

Firstly we arrived and were given the keys to the room (the guy at reception was very unhelpful). When we opened the door to our room a local half naked man rushed towards us, and told us reception had made a problem and we should go and see them as it was his room. As we waited to get the lift back down we saw him and a woman sneak out the room and run down the stairs. We told reception who at first didn't believe us and then sent a security guard to the room. He came back, said something in French to the receptionist and we then got another room. How bad is the security if the locals can make a copy of the key and use the place as a venue to take women???

The room was dark and smelled. We slept in our clothes because the beds were filthy. We didn't have pillows, they gave us cushions what you'd use on a couch. No cleaners came anywhere near our room during the four nights. There was carpet in the bathroom so it smelt horrible.

The lifts rarely worked. I've never been to a prison but could imagine the corridors looked like this place - dark, cramped with only 50% of the lights working.

We had a lovely view of the train tracks out of our window. To get to the beach you have to walk down a smelly subway. We walked back one night and there was empty bottles all over the subway.

This is a personal response to apologise to you and your family. This incredibly rare occurrence is not acceptable and we are so sorry for the situation. We have spoken to both the reception and security staff and can assume you this will not happen again. This incident has also been logged and has been passed to head office. Regarding the other elements of your stay, we strive to ensure rooms are cleaned thoroughly prior to guests arrival. Rooms are then cleaned on a weekly basis, as stated on our website. Again we apologise this regime was not undertaken during your stay. We are trying to schedule some maintenance to ensure the lifts are in full working order for next season. Directions to the beach are also fully listed on our website. We apologise again for any inconvenience caused. We hope this public apology in someway provides some consolation for your negative stay.

Positive - good location, beach is near, bus stop few steps away, supermarkets and places to eat are near, big balcony, kitchen with all the things you need to cook, loads of space to but your stuff, working air-conditioner, in my opinion clean, pool and sundecks.
Negative - unhelpful staff, lifts that doesent work, bathroom bit smelly, bit of noisy at nighttime.

Dirty filthy rooms;
Poorly Decorated;
Noisy;
Dark Corridors;
Lifts that don't work;
Unhelpful Staff;
Dodgy Lx sockets;
Filthy, smelly underpass that leads to the beach;
Apartment overlooked the main La Bocca intersection, so forget about sleep until 2am in the morning;
Instead of overlookinhg the Med you overlook a decrepit 'goods changing yard'.
Look if you're thinking of taking a vacation here then please think again - it is just too apalling for words.

“I'd rather spend my vacation in a tent surrounded by hungry alligators”

First of all - do yourselves a favour and find another place to stay! Having said that - here's our experience: We had booked ourselves( 2 adults and 2 children aged 2 and 6 ) into what seemed like a nice hotel located near the beach - for 14 days, and were really looking forward to it. Two days before we went, I found the tripadvisor, and read the reviews with horror. Teared up, I showed them to my husband, asking if we possibly should rebook ourselves into another hotel, but decided that it possibly wasn't too bad, and that we were going to give it a shot.

At the arrival, we came into a nice looking reception area. My husband turned around to me and said " well, this doesn't look too bad" and smiled to me. I agreed, but said I didn't want to have any hopes until we had seen the hotelroom.
Now, we had booked the biggest apartement they had.

After going through some rather smelly and dirty areas and hallways, we found our room. Entering the "biggest appartement" they had, was a total shock. It was deadtiny and dirty, and I wouldn't even put my worst enemy up in it. I decided not to show how shocked and upset I was, and went out to the tiny little balcony to get some fresh air and swallow the worst disappointment, because I didn't want to stress my husband. My husband followed me out to the balcony, and had one look at me, before he said, there was no way we were going to stay there for 14 nights. There was no bedclothes or towells , so I covered the double bed with some of our luggage, and put the kids to sleep on that. Meanwhile, my husband got on the internet via his mobilephone, to find another place to stay. Put it like this: We arrived at the hotel at 10 pm in the evening. We had found - and booked ourselves into another hotel by midnight, and moved out of the hotel 9 am the morning after. We all spent the night in the clothes we travelled in, not to "catch anything" on the most dirty matress I have ever seen - looked like somebody had a cruel death on it.... Yuck!!! =< The hotel we ended up with instead, was in Juan Le Pin, about 15 minutes away from Cannes towards Nice. Located 25 meters from the beach and very charmingly Provencal. We paid about 95 Euros per night for a lovely appartement of about 60m2 and had a huge balcony facing the beach - beautiful breakfast every day included in a beautiful oasis of a garden. The vacation started of as a real nightmare, but ended up in such a lovely place - so lovely we were very sad to leave, and cannot wait to return.
Sadly I found the Pierre & vacances Cannes Beach not only dirty,smelly, not beeing maintained and yucki - it was also a firehazzard. People were smikong in the very long hallways, and if ( when?) a fire starts, it will be absolutely impossible to get out into safety. It's not possible to get out easily enough. Usually I am fairly easygoing on hotels; I love nice hotels as much as anybody, but as long as I have the luxury of a clean place to stay, a private bathroom ( not having to share with the rest of the hotel/floor), and the feeling of safety ( area and room ), I am happy. Neither of these "needs" were covered here. I am amazed that this hotel is in such a poor state, and that nothing is beeing done about it. The pool..... well, I havent really commented on it, cause I obviously didn't use it. If that was because of the dirt and bacterias that was floating on top of the water, or the fact that we didn't spend anymore time than we absolutely had to in this hotel, I don't know - but I do know that I would strongly suggest any other hotel on this planet, than staying here.

Kind regards Travelling family of 4 / Norway

  • Liked — Looking at it when the taxi drove us away from it - never to return
  • Disliked — Arriving. ( I am also amazed about just how much a picture of the hotel on the internett actually can lie!!

Very dirty apartments and horrible smell. Very small for one bed apartment seems more like a studio. Stairs and corridors areas never cleaned during our week stay. Found hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Never any room by pool. Much too expensive for whats on offer.
