First of all - do yourselves a favour and find another place to stay! Having said that - here's our experience: We had booked ourselves( 2 adults and 2 children aged 2 and 6 ) into what seemed like a nice hotel located near the beach - for 14 days, and were really looking forward to it. Two days before we went, I found the tripadvisor, and read the reviews with horror. Teared up, I showed them to my husband, asking if we possibly should rebook ourselves into another hotel, but decided that it possibly wasn't too bad, and that we were going to give it a shot.
At the arrival, we came into a nice looking reception area. My husband turned around to me and said " well, this doesn't look too bad" and smiled to me. I agreed, but said I didn't want to have any hopes until we had seen the hotelroom.
Now, we had booked the biggest apartement they had.
After going through some rather smelly and dirty areas and hallways, we found our room. Entering the "biggest appartement" they had, was a total shock. It was deadtiny and dirty, and I wouldn't even put my worst enemy up in it. I decided not to show how shocked and upset I was, and went out to the tiny little balcony to get some fresh air and swallow the worst disappointment, because I didn't want to stress my husband. My husband followed me out to the balcony, and had one look at me, before he said, there was no way we were going to stay there for 14 nights. There was no bedclothes or towells , so I covered the double bed with some of our luggage, and put the kids to sleep on that. Meanwhile, my husband got on the internet via his mobilephone, to find another place to stay. Put it like this: We arrived at the hotel at 10 pm in the evening. We had found - and booked ourselves into another hotel by midnight, and moved out of the hotel 9 am the morning after. We all spent the night in the clothes we travelled in, not to "catch anything" on the most dirty matress I have ever seen - looked like somebody had a cruel death on it.... Yuck!!! =< The hotel we ended up with instead, was in Juan Le Pin, about 15 minutes away from Cannes towards Nice. Located 25 meters from the beach and very charmingly Provencal. We paid about 95 Euros per night for a lovely appartement of about 60m2 and had a huge balcony facing the beach - beautiful breakfast every day included in a beautiful oasis of a garden. The vacation started of as a real nightmare, but ended up in such a lovely place - so lovely we were very sad to leave, and cannot wait to return.
Sadly I found the Pierre & vacances Cannes Beach not only dirty, smelly, not beeing maintained and yucki - it was also a firehazzard. People were smikong in the very long hallways, and if ( when?) a fire starts, it will be absolutely impossible to get out into safety. It's not possible to get out easily enough. Usually I am fairly easygoing on hotels; I love nice hotels as much as anybody, but as long as I have the luxury of a clean place to stay, a private bathroom ( not having to share with the rest of the hotel/floor), and the feeling of safety ( area and room ), I am happy. Neither of these "needs" were covered here. I am amazed that this hotel is in such a poor state, and that nothing is beeing done about it. The pool..... well, I havent really commented on it, cause I obviously didn't use it. If that was because of the dirt and bacterias that was floating on top of the water, or the fact that we didn't spend anymore time than we absolutely had to in this hotel, I don't know - but I do know that I would strongly suggest any other hotel on this planet, than staying here.
