We arrived only to find that they had moved the rest of our party (we had a group of a few adults traveling separately) to another hotel on arrival because they "Over booked", witch seems like a scam to move people to a even cheaper hotel. The other couples would not even stay in the other hotel because the rooms smelled really bad. We found that the room had a huge stain on the carpet, the shower was broken (the hose up to the head had a hole and most of the water shot out that, and the drain would only let water down little by little, flooding the shower area in less then a few minutes), the walls had old masking tape on them where some sort of mirror used to be, none of the lights in the bathroom worked (maybe on purpose to hide how dirty it was). We were told that was the only room available, and that we could not get a refund for the current night. They told us to come back the next day and they would give us a receipt for the refund of the other nights. We ended up finding a room available at another hotel, and just ate the cost of the one night there. When we came back the next day the owner was there who did not speak English, but kept telling the front desk person (who was very nice) that he would not give us a receipt. The owner they started threatening to call the police on us after we said that we were going to stay here until he gave us the receipt we were told we would get.

All in all the worst hotel I have ever visited in my life.

Booked a room at the Hotel Paradis, through Late Rooms, guaranteed the room on my credit card and had confirmation through Late Rooms. When we finally found the Hotel which was a challenge in itself, we were disappointed to find that our room had been given away and there were NO other rooms available. To top this off, going to the travel information which was just around the corner, there was not another hotel with two rooms available in all of Nice, unless we settled for somewhere quite in the outskirts of nice. Instead we chose to leave the Nice area, drove along the coast towards Monaco and found a lovely little bed and breakfast with a fantastic view called the Bella Vista.

First, let it be said that the man on reception was very friendly and helpful and was able to direct us to where we wanted to go every time. The hotel is also very well located.

However...

We stayed in the dorm room at the top of the hotel. This turned out to be literally in the ceiling. We were unable to stand in the room and had to constantly duck down to walk around. The beds were clean but the blankets threadbare and manky looking.

The shower head fitting was broken, meaning that to shower you had to hold the shower head in one hand while washing yourself with the other while trying desperately to deflect the water in time when it went suddenly freezing cold (quite frequently). The smell coming from the bathroom due to a drain that looked as though it had not been cleaned in months was also quite unbearable. As there was no ventilation in the bathroom the choice was to leave the door closed and be overcome by the smell when entering or to let it waft out into the room.

The most concerning was when we noticed that the glass skylight had been taken out and placed over the opening sideways, not in any way connected to the roof. This meant that should it rain, the best case scenario was that room getting wet, worst case scenario was that the window would be washed right off the steep, gutterless roof crashing to the pedestrian mall 5 floors below. We did inform the receptionist of our concerns but nothing was done about it. We made sure we walked under the eaves of the shops when passing below thereafter!!

Also, while their partner hotel offers free internet for those staying at Hotel Paradis, it should be noted that they do not provide facilities for printing boarding passes.

Overall, we were disappointed with the quality of this hotel. While we paid less, I have stayed in plenty less expensive dorms that were kept in a much nicer (and safer) condition.

We booked this budget hotel as we were arriving in Nice at 10:30pm enroute to Cannes and just needed a place to spend the night. We found the room to be of decent size and clean. The beds are really small and there was no air conditioner. However, the location is excellent. Our only complaint - and it had nothing to do with the hotel - was that very early in the morning a window washer/street cleaner armed with a very loud machine started cleaning the street right outside the hotel (rue Paradis). Maybe this was just a random event, but given that this street contains the best shops in Nice, it might be a regular occurrence. Other than that, I have no complaints. I read some of the other reviews that had some bad things to say about the hotel, but we did not experience any of those negatives. Again, this is a budget hotel.
