“Avoid this place like the plague!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

In 30 years of travelling this is possibly the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. The staff are surly and rude and consider themselves way above serving you and the dim lighting serves mainly to disguise the grubby state of the decor. The Breakfast was good though!

Quick bullet points of the issues:
• 2 people for 4 days and they miscalculated the bill by €1400 (yes, €1400!)
• water went off twice during my stay
• staff were incredibly rude
• I booked a superior double and when I arrived was told that there were no doubles and I would have to stay in a twin. Not a big deal but then I was told I would have to move rooms after the first night. When I complained the guy looked me right in the eye and said "what do you want me to do?" (Care, maybe??)
• several times I stood waiting whilst staff stood chatting and ignoring me (actually apart from older chap who was a waiter in the breakfast room who was quite good)
• I ordered room service on the 30th January and I'm still waiting for it

And so it goes on. To sum up, this place has tried to position itself as a trendy, off the wall, bohemian hotel but unfortunately the staff feel they are so trendy, off the wall and bohemian that they shouldn't be interrupted by irksome guests who would like something so mundane as a coffee.

“One time stay!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 December 2011

The design and concept of the hotel is good, but the rooms are small and very dark (depends on which floor you are), also the corridors needs more lighting and brightness. The breakfast is very average with limited choices, internet is free but the speed is a issue. The staff is helpful , specially the person at concierge by the name “Halem” .

“I am in the hotel right now and I will tell you the truth :)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2011

This hotel has been absolutely slated on this website and I am setting the record straight. I have taken my boyfriend here for his twentieth birthday for a mid week break.

At the moment I am sitting on the bed in our superior room, I don't know what the normal rooms are like, but I will tell you about our room. It is beautiful, stylish, comfortable, we have a beautiful bathroom, a nice radiator to keep our towels warm, a cosmetic mirror with a light around it, so whoever wrote that 'girls should do their make up when its light outside' is talking rubbish! We are on the Africa floor and it is true it is dimly lit, but that is what gives it ambience, its nice a private and so cosy at night in the room when you have all the little lamps on and the big flatscreen, wall attached t.v on!!

There are english channels, me and boyfriend watch a film every night??So I dont know why people are complaining about the channels!!!!
We have double doors that open out to lovely views, - people are complaining about not having a sea view? Well funnily enough guys the hotel isn't a beachfront one!! Duh!!! If we look to our left we can see the sea, which is about 100m away. And to our left is a stunning hill top view!!!

Umm more about the room, the wi fi, is easy touse they give you a password and user name when you check in, so I don't know why someone was saying its a pain, because my laptop has remembered the password, its quick as well. The staff are extremely friendly, polite and always ask how we are, they say goodmorning, good afternoon e.t.c., they felt uncomfortable when we tipped them, and were very appreciative.

The lift with the lights in, is really cool. The downstairs decor is absolutely gorgeous, with loads of places to sit and relax, the rooftop is beautiful and the spa always smells delicious!

THE ONE AND ONLY downside is that the resteraunt is expensive, but they serve proper dishes and platters and back home in London it is normal to pay that amount for some food.

Ok now onto cannes itself.

It is so lovely, its the end of october but the beach is stunning, and the strip along la croisette (which is the beach road) is expensive, because, it is all of the posh resteraunts, and all of your dior, chanel, bvulgari, ralph lauren, fendi, roberto cavalli the list goes on, shops!! It is also the home to the massive Carlton (which is 2,000 for three nights in a superior) and also the miramar which is as much. So let's think about it fellow reviewers?

Those resteraunts are going to charge more because they have people with money staying in the hotels right next to them!!!

If you come out of the hotel turn left then right, then left, you are on rue d'antibes, which is the cannes version of oxford street, the prices are normal for what they are selling! Some stuff is cheap, the ZARA and MANGO are cheap and then you have other shops that are a bit more, then you have your designer shops? Its totally normal, it's like someone from cannes staying in hotel on oxford street then going shopping and saying selfridges is expensive? Of course it is but you also have topshop and primark?

I am a terrible eater, I hardly eat any types of food, and I have - for the first time in my life on holiday - been able to eat breakfast lunch and dinner on holiday.
On rue d'antibes, there are loads of little cafes, resteraunts e.t.c for example yesterday me and boyfriend had omlettes for breakfast I had a plain one, he had a cheese, ham and tomato one, there were delicious, then for lunch I had a ham baguette and he had a burger and chips (for lunch we also had two cokes and water and it came to 9 euros!) then for dinner we had three beers, two cokes, a chicken curry and a pizza and it came to 35 euros, so you can eat cheaply here, and I have to say the food is so tasty!!!!!!!! :)

So lastly I just want to say that the people have been very friendly to us, and we have had a really nice time, we are going to be returning next summer to this hotel for a week.

Please dont believe the other reviews, I am an extremely honest person and after reading these reviews I was really worried that me and boyfriend would not have enough money to eat and shop, but we have plenty and he even brought me some MAC make up today ! haha!!!

So, yeh, this is a really cool hotel :)

The design of the hotel is very stylis, however I think it requires urgent renovation, or maybe just light repairing. In general I enjoyed staying there, and would come back if I am in Cannes again. Breakfast was delighful. Service is very quick and exceptional.
