“V. cute hotel, less than 10 minutes walk to La Croisette / beach”
Hotel Renoir's front entrance is located on a quiet street next to the police station and we felt very safe, not a dodgy street as pointed out by some earlier review. There are quite a lot of steps up to the hotel, ask the taxi driver or concierge to help with your bags. The walk to the La Croisette is less than 10 mins walk, shops 3 minutes and there is a Carrefour nearby if you need snacks / water for the beach etc. The sea views are great albeit the back looks on to a very busy highway. The noise can be an issue. Our original room 301 was beautiful and v big, very spacious bathroom which is unusual for most European hotels - their rooms tend to be very small. There was a problem with the noise as the double glazed door was not closing properly. We did ask the male concierge who is based there in the morning until 2pm to look into this but he turned a blind eye to all of our simple requests which was frustrating to say the least - be warned just don't ask him to do anything because it will not get done, i.e. restaurant reservations etc. I think he is on a different planet. The rest of the staff were helpful and one lady I believe called Miriam looked into this immediately and we got upgraded to room 405, less noise and a really lovely room. The decor is good but not excellent for four star, small attention to detail, i.e. tiling, carpets, furniture. There are 4 floors in total. There is a lift / elevator and it is very small (fits 3 people). There are 26 rooms in total, I would not call this a four star hotel as the service was haphazard to say the least, simple requests were not delivered. i.e. breakfasts delivered late, wrong items brought up etc. One of the cleaning ladies left their cleaning products on top of our toiletries and when we explained that to the woman concierge in the afternoon she just laughed it off. Towels and bath robes were not of top quality, there was a large orange stain on one of the bath robes /shortage of towels -we had to wait for them to delivered. We asked for drinks in the lobby area / bar, the lady who tried to make drinks for us made us late for our taxi and we incurred a waiting charge. Re the C beach - they have a partnership with them and Plage 45 next to C beach is MUCH better in terms of beds / service. When we asked the male Concierge to make a booking at Plage 45 he said that all the beds were taken which was not true. Re restaurants - go to Le Mantel, 22 Rue Saint Antoine (Old town) - the food is AMAZING, this was NOT recommended by Concierge. Ask them to make a reservation for you. Go to Baoli for dancing / drinks and you can eat there, they don't take reservations. Concierge's choice in restaurants is not v. good and I would advise you to do your own research. If you don't want to pay extortionate prices, then this hotel is good if you book on Lastminute.com etc. Don't expect an amazing service, it is a v pretty hotel, yes they are friendly but not 4 star. I would give this 4 ratings but the service is a let down. No gym at the hotel, they do massage treatments etc - there is no spa, they bring someone in to do this.
