“Functional”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2009

We enjoyed separate rooms as lounge had a sofa bed.

Thought I'd walked into a sort of greenhouse at reception. Lots of long panes of glass and plants outside and white whicker furniture with cushions.

Apartment was not cosy with its dull colours of greys and blues and fading white walls, but functional and decent value overall.

The parking lot was sort of under the apartment hotel which was one less worry as car was safe there.

Good location, glad we only stayed one night though.

“Won't be staying here again.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2008

My boyfriend and I stayed in this "hotel" for 2 nights the end of August. I was not impressed with the apartement as they call it. We asked for a non-smoking room and the bathroom stank of smoke, the kitchen area was tiny and in need of a re-vamp. The bedroom/living area was tiny and they didn't even have a double bed, had to sleep on a pull out sofa. It was something like a college flat, it was old looking and in need of doing up. Would never stay here again.

  • Liked — the garden was nice
  • Disliked — the bedroom, had to sleep on a pull out sofa

“Well equipped and situated hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 August 2008

We booked this aparthotel for a 5 night stay in Cannes. The hotel was situated about 10 minutes walk from the public beach which is free.

The town is between 5 and 20 minutes walk depending on how far along the Croisette that you go.

The apartment we had was a one-bedroomed, 4 person apartment. There was a twin bedroom, bathroom with shower over and separate toilet. There were 4 of us so we slept on the sofa bed in the lounge/diner. This was quite comfortable and was ready made with sheets when we arrived. In fact all the beds were made up.

Rooms have air conditioning which was very useful.

The kitchen area was equipped with a 2 ring electric hob, electric grill (looks like a microwave) and a half size dishwasher. There were mugs, plates, bowls, knifes, forks, a couple of saucepans, vacuum cleaner and dustpan and brush. They also left you 2 clean teatowels and enough bath and hand towels for our stay, however the bedding or towels were not changed during the 5 days we were there. Irons and hairdryers are available from reception, although someone perhaps had borrowed them before us and left them in the room, so check before you borrow them. Yes, there are ironing boards too and washing machines/tumble dryers on the ground floor. There is a television in the room but, as usual it only has BBC World news and some French channels so it might be difficult to please the kids.

If you go there for more than a couple of days, take some dishwasher tablets with you as it's quite difficult to get a small quantity. We didn't need salt or rinse aid while we were there.

Our stay was from 15th August which apparently is Napoleons birthday, so there were free fireworks on the beach. They are also happening on 24th. However although advertised as starting between 10 and 10.30pm, they eventually started at about 11pm. It was difficult to find out why they were late. But if you can stay to watch them they are pretty spectacular.

There is parking available under the hotel for 10 euros per night, but be warned the car park is down a very steep slippery ramp and is quite tight to negotiate. However it is cheaper than the nearest public car park. Just don't use it if you have a big car.

Overall we were very pleased with the hotel and would definitely use Citadine aparthotels again, particularly as they have hotels all over Paris. Make sure you pick up the free guide inside the room.

  • Liked — Generally it ticked all our boxes for the holiday, ie location, price, convenience.
  • Disliked — Car park a bit scary, unless you're Lewis Hamilton!

“Great staff, good location, generic rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 March 2008

Stayed here 5 times, always for the Cannes Film Festival in May. Great staff, very helpful. One year they let me into the office to type and print out some temporary business cards. Rate is good, for the festival you always need to book for all 10 nights, the rate for a little two bedroom mini apartment is the same as a little room at a nice hotel. Location is just out of the main area, just across the street from the train station, so its a little walk to the palais and the beach area. Rooms are small, but quiet. We always get a little kitchen, which is nice to have.

“you will most likely not cook anyway!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2006

the room smelled stale after a couple days, the bed (sofa pull out) was not confortable.

if your looking for a cheap semi-decent place to stay in cannes i guess its ok. it was pretty clean and the location is good. the rooms are of decent size and you get a small balcony.

if you're expecting anything more than a motel, don't stay here.

if you decide to go: bring your own toilet paper and towels. if you're staying more than a couple days, they will charge you 17euros for fresh towels! and probably yell at you if you ask for more toilet paper!

also, if you need your room cleaned, they will again, yes, charge you 35euros per cleaning.

  • Disliked — stale room smell
  • Tips/Secrets — its ok if your on a tight budget
