Basic, tiny room. No room for several suitcases on the floor. ONE outlet for plugging and charging. BRING AN EXTENSION cord for multiple charges like phone, ipad, compter, etc.
Low profile bed, not the most comfortable. Low quality bedding, fiber duvet, and non feather pillows.
Tiny bathroom, with combined shower/bathtub. Typical French design with short glass shower protector that leaked lots of water onto the floor whenever used.
I reserved a base room at 379€ a night and was given one on the 1st floor over the driveway. I protested and was moved a few doors away and charged 10 € extra a night.
Ridiculous room bar prices - 4.2 € for a can of diet coke, similar for small bottle of water, also available at same price from a locked cooler in the lobby.
Free wireless internet, but had to be relogged in whenever you turned your laptop, ipad etc on and started on the net.
Expensive cab service - they apparently charge to drive upthe hill, plus to your destination. Routinely costs 10€ + to the Carlton Hotel, 15€ to the old town.
Shuttle to the town leaves hourly on the hour up til 11pm, not convenient for those who have business meetings that start on the hour, and you don't get to the Croisette until 15 after the hour.
The hotel bar closes at midnight. No ifs, ands or buts. Absolutely at 12 midnight.
With no notice ahead of time at reservation time, there's "work" going on just next to the hotel. What that means is that dirt movers started in Apr 2012 for 18 months of construction of the Parc Montfleury. Tennis courts, swimming pool etc for the municipality.
Also not advance notice that he hotel's pool deck is under construction, so pool use is no recommended.
Mediocre comfort, mediocre service, mediocre facility at luxury hotel prices.
