“Great low key compound-style hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2011

This hotel is part of a Dutch hotel family Sandton, if I am not mistaken. The best part of it as far as we were concerned was the service - the owners/managers living on or near the property and the waitstaff were warm and welcoming. The 'scene' is really low-key: the guests seemed predominantly Dutch and German-speaking, many with [well-behaved] young children, The Friday all-you-can-eat barbecue is decent, if you eat meat. Otherwise head for Haut-de-Cagnes for an easy outdoor meal [would stay away from Josy Jo more haughty then haute!] The food in the hotel's restaurant was also alright, though the chef was trying a little hard in the 'haute cuisine' direction... The pool is splendid, especially in the morning. We stayed ina separate house on the second floor with a huge terrace. Overall really relaxing and low key, very close to the Nice airport, although make sure you know exactly how to drive there, or else take the taxi - maneuvering through one-way streets in Cagnes-sur-Mer was not pretty the first time around.

Room Tip: just call and ask them questions to make sure you get what you want

“Very, very dissapointing for a 4 star Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2011

We stayed here for four days in a 'suite' .
One double bed , a sofa bed and a 'camp bed' .
The Hotel its and location were great BUT it was definately NOT a 4star Hotel .
We had a lunch on first day and I have never ever had such a slow service in my life ( 51 years old ) . It took 90 minutes to get 2 paninis and 2 club sandwhiches and a few drinks !!
The campbed broke down and we told reception . It never got fixed so one of our children
had to sleep on the a matress on the floor . The toilet kept running and never got fixed in the 4 days !!

So unfortunately that is not good enough .

“A Dutch Hotel with no proper chips”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2011

I have been several times since I wrote about having real chips there and I still enjoy it, but it would appear that like many French hotels, it is there for the benefit of the staff and not the guests. I recently went to the Hotel Beaulieu and they did not start serving lunch until 1pm, well here you have the opposite and the kitchen closes at 2pm, so there is no leisurely lunch and one feels that one is brown bagging it. Nowhere else in the world does one have such an abrupt ending, and it is a reflection of France's declining competitiveness, and not what one would expect of a 4 star hotel.

Now I know they do have a potato peeler, and the one thing the Dutch are famous for is their chips (not their football!), so let's get this sorted out.

Otherwise one can have a nice lunch in pleasant surroundings, and the fact that we keep returning is an indication of our overall satisfaction.

“Such a gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 February 2011

Beautiful landscaping, stylish rooms and idyllic restaurant at the side of the swimming pool facing the mediterranean. Service of the friendly staff was excellent, a rather refreshing experience at the Cote d'Azur. Will definitely go back!

Great place to stay-we had a very relaxing time here. Pool and sunbeds excellent. staff helpful and overall a lovely experience. Breakfasts were brilliant. A car is required unless you don't want to leave hotel.
