“A very good stay in a bed & breakfast style”

A very good option to stay in Cagnes-sur-Mer, in spite of the steep road to get there that makes it hard to explore the area by foot. Car parking is approximately 300 meters away downhill (and you have to climb back to the b&b). Nice and comfortable apartment (Ocre). Good bathroom and simple breakfast. Hotel managed by the owner, Ms. Fiona (Irish). Charming flowery terrace with lovely view of the Mediterranean.

Dear RBCOSTA
Thank you for taking the time to write a complimentary review of Villa Estelle. It is always good to hear guest views so that we can continue to improve our services. Although Villa Estelle is set in a medieval village with picturesque winding streets, unusually for France, you can drive through the village and park either in a public car park close by or in the secure underground parking in the heart of the village. There is also a free shuttle bus which circles the village every 15 minutes making exploring a little easier on your feet!

“A piece of paradise”

I recently stayed at Villa Estelle, (Cagnes Sur Mer) when I entered through the gate I was totally amazed by what I saw. The terrace was so tranquil and the view was fantastic. I stayed in the Blue room which I loved, the attention to detail was exceptional. Every morning I sat on the terrace for breakfast with stunning views of Antibes.Fiona (the marageress) went down every day to the local bakery for fresh breads and the most amazing croissants, Fiona was so friendly and has a great knowledge of the area and helped me to get around the place and was able to suggest great restauraunts, she also speaks three languages. After having visited Villa Estelle I can honestly say my time there was brilliant. I now dream of my next trip to Villa Estelle, hopefully sooner rather than later.

“No 'feel good' factor”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 October 2011

Villa Estelle is a difficult place to access, but the directions were excellent. Be warned that approaching by car involves a steep descent down a very narrow street. Car parking is 300 metres further downhill. Many local cars bear the scars of living in a village with such narrow streets. The local free bus service does offset a lot of these difficulties.

Our room facing the sea was delightful, but the information folder with its 'rules' rankled with us. To be told that guests had to keep quiet in the hotel lounge because of the adjacent office seemed inappropriate, as did the suggestion that guests 'remembered' the housekeeper who looked after the large house on her own.

The breakfast was basic with no fruit - and that's in Provence...? Muesli was extra. Advice on eating locally was helpful and we dined in two excellent restaurants at the top of the village. Fleur de Sel is a gastronomic delight.

Taking credit card numbers to secure a reservation is common practice, but to take the full amount from the card on booking seemed surprising. This is normally done on departure. The Villa Estelle is run on a hard-nosed commercial basis and lacks any 'feel good' factor. The pity of it is, with a little effort, it could have been a much more enjoyable experience.

“We have just found a little Jewel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2011

We have had the most marvellous break in a little jewel of a place in Cagnes-Sur-Mer called Villa Estelle. We stumbled upon it purly by chance when we took a wrong turn on the A8 heading for Nice.Ville Estelle is nestled high on the hill in the medieval part of town and just oozes charm and character out of every corner of the property, we spent five sun drenched days there with family and friends. We had breakfast on the terrace each morning and usually sat until lunch time mesmerised by the views of the Med and the surrounding countryside. The Manageress Fiona is a true mind of information (as well as a truly genuine person) and willingly offers free advice on the best places to eat and sights to see.We tried a few of the restaurants up in the square and found the over all ambiance so captivating that we sat well into the wee small hours before meandering back down the hill to the ever welcoming Villa Estelle and on one particular night we stayed on the terrace and watched the sun rise over the town.If you get a chance have a look you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: Even if you don't book it check out the Estelle suit as it's the jewel in the crown.

“We loved it and we'll be back!”

My husband and I have just spent a fantastic 5 day break at Villa Estelle. We flew Belfast to Nice and after a 15 minute taxi journey we arrived in the historic old town with its castle on the hill and its cobbled streets winding down from its square.

When we arrived at Villa Estelle it looked from the outside like every other property on the narrow street. We were greeted by our hostess Fiona who led us up to the courtyard. What an amazing place, we were stunned by the views, the scenery , the sea and the countryside. The courtyard is an idyllic setting where we enjoyed breakfast each morning and drinks in the evening.

The interior of the accommodation has been restored to reflect its 14th Century elegance. Each room and suite have been personally named to reflect their style. We stayed in the Azur room on the top floor which had street and sea views to die for. This was a beautiful room which reflects the rustic charm of the property.

Our hostess Fiona and her assistant Nina were of great help in advising us of places to visit and the best modes of transport. They also advised us on the various restaurants in the area most of which are located on the short walk up to the square located at the castle.

The location of the accommodation is so central to the Cote d'Azur that we were able to visit Nice, Cannes, Antibes and Monaco on our short visit. Although we were busy travelling each day to those various towns we had a very relaxing and stress-free holiday which was due in no short measure to our hostess and the beautiful accommodation.

I would highly recommend this for anyone looking for fantastic accommodation, beautiful scenery and a totally relaxing holiday.

I hope to visit and stay in Villa Estelle in the very near future again.
