We stayed for 7 days from 27 June to 4 July 2010. The hotel was good value for money, very clean, with air conditioning, which is essential this time of year, plenty of hot water and clean towels and the staff were friendly and helpful and spoke some English, although have to say if I went again for more than a couple of days I would want to be in the centre of town. Would also have liked to have had coffee/tea making facilities in the room. You can book parking in their secure car park ie you have your own key to the gates. There is no lift so if you have a problem walking upstairs be aware. It is about 15 minutes walk to the outer walls of Avignon and the centre of town so by the time you have walked there walked around and walked back, it can be a bit tiring, especially in the heat and it was very hot whilst we were there, it reached 39/102. There is an island outside the walls, not far from the pont d'Avignon which is reachable by a free ferry or you can walk over a bridge. People were using it to get away from the heat, every tree was taken-it is clean and cool and there are a couple of restaurants and a pool. If you drive over the bridge to it, you can park for free.

The hotel is surprisingly good on the inside although the outside was not so appealing. Satff were very friendly, rooms were clean and nice and it was very good value for a city hotel. Parking was convenient. I would definitely reccomend this hotel for a stopover in Avignon

Stayed one night at the Hotel St. George for an antique fair in Avignon. The front desk staff was very friendly. the breakfast was adequate. The room was quite large for France and hte bed comfrotable. the only down side was that my room reeked of smoke. The worst of any hotel in France that I have ever stayed. Even though the entire continent seems to smoke, I have never had a problem with my room in the dozen plus hotels I have stayed in all over the country. This was so bad that I had to wash my pajamas before I could put them back on teh next night. If smoke doesn't bother you, this hotel will be fine.

The pluses were, this was reasonably priced, secure lock up for the car, excellent staff, nice breakfast
The negatives are, it's out of the centre but it's near a bus route, no lift, which was a problem for my 81 yr old mother in law. We were on the 3rd floor. I thougt I had booked a place with a lift but hey, I could have made a mistake.
It was clean in every respect.
If you are happy with being out of the centre and happy to climb some floors go for it. Again, very very friendly staff. I'd go back.
