Stayed here one night while visiting Avignon. The hotel is in a decent location just outside the city walls. A quick walk to all of the sights in Avignon. The room we had was a suite - nice size with a full sitting area and bedroom. Wifi Internet is free in the lobby, but it worked fine in our room as well. The decor throughout the hotel is quite shabby -- upholstery and carpets are worn. However, our room was clean and spacious. Totally functional for a quick trip when we didn't expect much from the hotel besides a safe place to sleep.

We stayed at the Avignon Grand Hotel as part of an organized cycle tour on 5 and 10 October 2011. During this time, our bags were broken into (we know this because our bag padlocks were placed back on a different zipper and the contents of the bags was rearranged) and my wife's brand new shoes were stolen. Absolutely unbelievable. Repeated attempts to engage with staff failed, and no response whatsoever has been received despite numerous follow up attempts to resolve the matter. Moreover, the rooms were appalling. The bathroom mould was noxious, the shower water came out like a hose, forcing us to use the bath to wash, the beds comprised a steel frame pushed up against the bare wall with no bedhead, the airconditioner didn't work, walls were generally marked and dirty, taps were loose in their fittings; general disrepair. The prize for most unhelpful staff member goes to "Jerome" who was more interetsed in his iPhone and smoking outside than helping anyone. I travel a lot for work across many different countries, and this is quite simply the single worst hotel I have ever in my life experienced. You have to actively try hard to be this bad. Something is very rotten at this hotel.

My husband and I stayed 4 nights (2 nights, then away for a few days, then another 2 nights). Our first visit saw us greeted by a rude man on reception who failed to greet us or look at us while checking in. The room was filthy and the wi fi was not working. Carpets and curtains were stained and the bed was a steel framed version from 1920.
Our second visit was a complete disaster. This room was filthy, carpets had not been vacuumed, the airconditioning was broken, the tap on the bathroom sink was not fixed to the basin so kept falling over and wetting the bench and the shower was broken so we had to have baths.
The worst thing was discovering that our luggage had been gone through whilst we were away and a brand new pair of shoes had been stolen. Upon reporting this to the hotel we have not received any response. 2 emails later, they still haven't responded.
DON'T STAY THERE.

My wife and I spent 4 days at the hotel and found many things to like - the breakfast room was light and spacious and the food adequate, our room was quite large with a nice balcony, the staff was friendly and generally helpful, the bathroom floor was newly tiled and the location opposite the old city wall was perfect.  But there were also a number of negatives - the grout in the bathroom was black with mold, the carpet had stains every few feet, the curtains had a number of holes in them, the hot water was intermittent, the beds were uncomfortably stiff, the hallways were dark (a small light popped on when you pass certain spots) and the hotel had a very subtle but ever-present unpleasant smell in the hallways.  Additionally, the inner lock on the door was broken and hotel staff just opened the door and walked into the room 3 separate times without knocking when we were present.  Very awkward!  With some attention to detail by hotel management, the hotel could be outstanding but currently it ranks as the worst of the 6 hotels we stayed at on our vacation to beautiful France.
