While Arles is not big, the location of your hotel still matters, mainly because there is no metro so you need to walk a lot. If your hotel is located close to the main sightseeing sites, it will save you a lot of time getting around and Hotel De L'Amphitheatre is exactly that.

The main sightseeing sites in Arles are the Arena and the Amphitheatre and the main shopping and dining area is near the Place du Forum and the Place de la Republique. Hotel De L'Amphitheatre is in the centre of all these four places. Everything is within reach. In terms of the location, this hotel is a clear winner.

While the bedroom is comfortable but basic, the building is quite impressive. It is located in a 17th century building and the deco is classy with a touch of Provencal earthiness. The room comes with free wi-fi but there is also a skylight lounge where the hotel guests can use the hotel's computers. Very nice.

And for all these, I paid only 51 euro for a single room. This is the cheapest room during my 10-day trip to France but certainly one of my favourite hotels. I highly recommend it.

This is a lovely hotel. Unusual, stylish, elegant, comfortable, atmospheric and wonderful value for money.

It's location is perfect within spitting distance of the Roman amphitheatre. Public rooms are filled with antiques and colour and our bedroom was charming and comfortable. Breakfast was good - I went for the cooked option - a rare treat in France. It was delicious and great value.

My husband was unwell while we were there. The staff on the desk were unfailingly helpful, both with advice on how to navigate the French health system and with their restaurant recommendations. I would not hesistate to return and would recommend it to the most discerning of travellers.

Although we had a hard time finding the hotel - it was so worth it. We loved our room - it was spacious for a european hotel and beautifully decorated. It had a private nook with a desk and lamp, the bathroom was lovely with the toilet in a separate room. Our Room #22 overlooked the outdoor breakfast patio. The room had a safe, a/c, stocked refrigerator, nice lounge chair, flat screened TV and very clean and quiet. Breakfast was lovely continental with fresh squeezed orange juice served to your table. Staff was very helpful. Parking was available relatively close by - 5 min walk @ 6 E/day - get your ticket and directions at check-in (parking is tight in with historic area - hope you are driving a small car - side streets are narrow). Very close to all the roman structures. We absolutely loved it here.

This hotel is within walking distance of the attractions in Arles which are well worth a visit. Step inside the door and you are met with a high cellinged hallway and interesting features. Our room was a good size for a family of 3, the 3rd bed for the child in the L-shaped part of the room. Very comfortable bed, good bathroom facilities. No great view from the room but that didn't worry us for a 1 night stop. Breakfast is a set menu, delivered to your table - croissants, bread, biscuits, jam, juice, tea - no cereal or eggs, but we had enough. Worth a visit if you are in Arles.
