“Nice place to explore Provence”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2010

Stayed here for 5 nights in 2009 - used this as a base to explore Provence by driving. Nice base given the proximity to the highway, but could be hard to locate without a GPS. Large roomy accomodation, clean bathrooms. No wifi, but you can buy it pretty cheap. Had a swimming pool, but we didn't use it. Expensive breakfast, but close to other joints with reasonable prices. Overall, pretty decent option to stay in and explore the beautiful Provence region.

“I would recommend just for business...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2010

The hotel is a modern and new building with several facilities (free Wi-fi) and the staff is quite helpful and cooperative. Breakfast is rich and satisfactory. We didn't look at the fitness centre.
Apart from these few aspects, we didn't manage to find any other value in this hotel. Starting from the location, which is right behind the highway, with no touch of Provence at all and a noisy sound of cars and traffic coming through the window of the room. The hotel has a swimming pool that is so small no adult can think of swimming in and also there's little space around to relax and sunbath. The swimming can be usuful if you travel with children but we coudl hardly find any good point other than this one. But together with the anonymous location what disappointed us more (we were three couples travelling around the wonderful Provence) was the room itslef. The space was so poky we had several problems organizing our luggage, considering the shadow of a cabinet we found. Already mentioned the little window facing the highway, we come to the bathroom, that had a very nice and large shower (good point), which unfortunately stole space to the remainingg facilites of the bathroom, as constricted as the rest of the room (the WC was located in separate cramped cabinet). Besides that, there was no refrigerator inside the room and the price of water at the reception was highly expensive.

I am asking my self "are all the good reviews about the same hotel we stayed at?". Because this is not our impression at all! First of all, the pictures are lying! The location was far from the city center, but that is not a problem for us, and this we also knew. The problem was the dirty and small rooms. We had to change once, and the second room was a little bit better, but you still saw the dirt and the smell was terrible. The breakfast was also bad, and the price very expensive! The only positive, that difference the overall rating from 1 to 2 is the service at the reseption. This is a typical motorway motel, and not a 3 star hotel. How they got the 3 stars we don't understand. We have travelled a lot, and stayed at many hotels, and this is what we would range as a 1 star hotel. Stay at another hotel if going to Aix, this is a lovely city that deserves a better hotel!

“Money Well Spent”

I was initially a bit shocked to arrive at the hotel by taxi, it appearing to be back to front. I had that awful trepIdation, following a journey, of wondering where I was going, and had I made a mistake ? The Hotel staff were very hospitable and professional, and the room, although small, was adequate for our five night stay. We had a first floor room in the renovated area with a wet room style bathroom. This had a glass front to it, and we did feel that you would have to be on very intimate terms with your companion as it afforded no privacy. The restaurant was good value, although the breakfast was a little pricey. We took the local bus into Aix (1 euro 10 cents) and took breakfasts at the street cafes, much more enjoyable and affordable. The pool was great. although it was poorly manicured. After we had negotiated the foul foot bath we had it to ourselves, but were unable to bring refreshments poolside, which was a shame. Aix is a lovely city surrounded by a lovely area. We had a memorable stay, and would certainly recommend Aix and this hotel to anyone who wished to do the Cezanne Trail.

“Slightly better than adequaqte”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2006

The room on the 2nd floor, booked as a twin, contained a small double and a single bed which took over most of the space. There was also insufficient hanging space . The bathroom was OK, if tatty. The breakfast area was badly set out and very crowded, especially when 3 coach parties were all trying to eat at once. However, the food was varied, generous and hot (where appropriate). Considering the nearness of the motorway the hotel was very quiet and had pleasant grounds and an outdoor pool. The staff were friendly, efficient and helpful; most spoke adequate English. The real drawback is the distance from the town centre. The bus stop was a few minutes walk through a quiet, if rundown residential area, and the bus took about 20 minutes. If you were using the hotel as a base for touring the advantage would be quick access to the motorway. The only local place to eat in the evening was the hotel restaurant where the food was expensive (by English standards), boring , tepid.
