“Nice stay in Spring or Autumn”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 June 2010

I loved to stay at this place 5 years ago on some business trips. They seem to have done nothing to the rooms since then. Nevertheless I still like the self contained studios with a private little patio in front. Good place to relax in the evening. The rooms are well equipped with all you need (plates, glasses, cutlery etc.) but coffee making facilities are somewhat poor. There are washing machines you can use as well.
On the flipside the location is not good if you want to go sightseeing in Aix (30-40 minutes walk to the center) and as there is no air con, the rooms can get unpleasently warm in summer. So I only recommend to stay there in spring or autumn as in winter you are not able to enjoy the little patio and in summer the rooms lack the air con.

“Terrıble locatıon, ımpossible to fınd and no aır conıdtıonıng or lıft”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2009

Need we say more! Thıs was the most dısappointing hotel stay that my friend and I had on our whole holiday. It took us well over an hour to fınd the hotel after arrıvıng into the town. Tnıs was after stoppıng for directions from locals as well as askıng the İbıs Hotel (next door!!!) where ıt was. There were NO signs to the hotel that were vısible from the roadsıde and arrivıng late ın the evning was a nıghtmare. To top ıt off the reception closes at 9pm so luckily we had called ın advance to let them know that we were arrivıng late and for a key to be left ın a safe place for us. Once we arrived there were no lifts so we had to drag our heavy suitcases up about 20 stairs whıch Im sure woke everyone up. The room was VERY stuffy and having no aır conditioning was just the icing on the cake to a very bad hotel experience!

“Disappointing overall”

I selected this hotel somewhat at the last minute based on the Trip Advisor "top value" recommendation.

The staff were nice, and there was free parking, but other than that I don't have much good to say. The hotel is not walking distance to the center of Aix, which I knew when I booked, but I thought I'd be getting a nice room as a compromise. The room was very basic and worn out, and if I had to do it over again I'd definitely spend a little more and stay at another more central location.

“Poor location, shabby service”

The frontage of the hotel is well-maintained. The rooms have a 80's feel but it is clean. Our room had a view of the mountains. This hotel does not have a lift so don't bring heavy luggage. The receptionist, Marie, is not helpful and a bit curt. . The district of the hotel is quite a distance from the heart of AIx. It would take an hour to walk there. The area around the hotel is a bit dodgy.

“Good location, quiet & basic”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 October 2008

Ignore the shabby laneway entrance - like us your initial disappointment will change once you enter the peaceful grounds of the property. During our stay we came to appreciate the great location, quiet surrounds and basic but comfortable facilities. This was a great place for our three-year old to run around safely but I don't know whether the room configuration would work for larger families. The studio room, with the bedroom upstairs, was hot and stuffy. The fan helped but it felt a bit claustrophobic. The kitchen was functional and free WiFi was great. We had problems with the bathroom floor flooding when we used the shower - a minor but irritating problem. Yes, it was a bit tired but I think it was good value.
I wouldn't book this place if you're expecting top class service, excellent facilities or vibrant city location. But it's great if you want to come and go without having to negotiate inner city traffic. There's a bus right at the bottom of the road that takes you quickly into the heart of Aix. Before setting off for the day meander along the river just below the bastide for a dose of peaceful countryside. Basic but comfortable: you have everything you need here for a comfortable base from which to explore Provence.

  • Liked — Fountains, good location
  • Disliked — Stuffy bedroom
