We stayed overnight at this hotel on the way down to Spain,and again overnight onthe way back 4 weeks later.On both occasions we found the hotel,while not luxurious,completely adequate for the purpose.The rooms were clean and bright,and the food available was hot and of a reasonable quality.For travellers looking for a higher quallity of food there are several restaurants witin easy reach.As an overnight stopping place I would recommend this hotel.

“Eau de sewage”

IBIS Nord Angouleme. I stayed in this hotel in Sept 2005. The restaurant had sold out of most food. The waiter said je suis desolee so many times I began to think it was his name. The entire lower floor and (non smoking) room smelt of sewage. After 3 hours in the room I complained and was moved to a smoking room so the smell of smoke was greater than that of sewage. The curtains had holes in, the lavatory seat was broken and the wood work wrecked. In the morning they refused any refund saying I had had a new room. It has taken seven months of wrangling in French to get any refund from Accor Group.
TIP Never leave a Accor hotel until completely satisfied.
