“Very enjoyable experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2011

Chose this as last night on way home from Business trip and enjoyed it very much. Arrived on a very hot day (yes) at beginning of October and went out and relaxed by the water with a lovely cool drink watching the boats on the lake and guests in the little pool. Check in and Service was a bit slow as they were still serving lunches and I think had lots extra visitors due to the hot weather. Our room was HUGE clean but a little dated especially the bathroom. We had a balcony so could watch the sun going down on the lake and dawn in the morning. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and were pleasantly surprised by what seems to be a recent improvement in meals and evening service in France? Nice Wine pushed the bill up of course! We did not have the breakfast as pricy at 18 euro and most of it I cannot eat however we would stay again if passing that way. It is a bit out in the sticks but worth the detour.

“Best welcome ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2011

We stayed at the Hotel du Golf de l'Aillette last weekend and were very impressed, mainly with the efficiency and helpfulness of the staff. From the moment we appeared at the reception desk to leaving the hotel the following morning we couldn't fault anything. We were given a lovely room with a beautiful view of the lake and the pretty houses the other side. We sat in the bar with the view of the lake drinking a kir before dinner; and then enjoyed a lovely dinner in the restaurant. Having passed a very comfortable night in the hotel room we found the shower head lit up the water when when we started running it! Sadly we didn't have breakfast as we wanted to go to the war museum nearby before catching the ferry, but are looking forward very much to staying again next summer and having a dip in the inviting pool and having breakfast the next morning as well.

“Not really a golf hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2011

My wife and I stayed here in connection with a classic car rally. Excellent room, good food, expensive bar. No air conditioning is OK in September, maybe not in July.
The hotel has a minibus sitting at the front door as decoration. My wife booked a round of golf when I was out on the rally. She asked how to get to the golf course at reception. No lift was offered in the minibus. She was told it was 200 metres away. I later checked this and the golf course is 1,200 metres from the hotel by a deserted path through a forest. She had to walk there and back carrying her golf clubs.
When I complained at this treatment, I was told that it was not hotel policy to transport guests from the hotel to the course.
So if you are going there to play golf you now know what sort of hospitality to expect.

Room Tip: First floor with a balcony and view over lake.

“Excellent stopover, perhaps more”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2011

My wife and I were driving down to the south of France and looking for a stopover, to break up the journey south a couple of hours after getting off the Eurotunnel. We found this place online and it seemed well reviewed so investigated further. At 110 Euros we thought that sounded fair value, given what was visible on their website, and so it turned out. The setting as many people have observed is wonderful - extremely quiet, right on the lake front, with a pretty view across to the surprisingly colourful and tasteful holiday village opposite.

I had an early evening swim in the pool, which was spotlessly clean and nicely warm (25 degrees). It's surrounded by wooden decking and sun loungers, and a glass wall to keep the wind off.

We ate our evening meal outside again by the pool, the set menu, and it was very good value at 28 Euros for 3 courses, with 4 or 5 choices for each course. I think bottled water at 5.5 euros is a bit steep, but that's my only grumble. There's an a la carte for those who want it, though I would observe that restaurant decor itself is rather lacking in any charm - it's not unpleasant, just no ambience.

Back to the room and it was really very spacious with an enormous bed - this was a standard room 'grand lit', and the bathroom was fine. Breakfast was 10 euros each and there was lots of food and even a powered juicer and a bowl of oranges, so you could make your own OJ. The sun was streaming in through the large picture windows and it was lovely sitting by the window, though maybe we should have eaten outside.

The hotel seemed full, with lots of parties of slightly older people dressed for golf - 65 year olds in Pringle and tartan! I would think fully half the guests that night were British, and the car park was full of English number plates. Not many kids, but then again school has just started again.

We chose this pace for the convenience of parking and wanting to be close-ish to the main autoroute, yet not in a town centre. Though we didn't play golf, we can certainly recommend this as a very good place to stopover on part of a longer drive. It felt calm, safe and relaxed. We would certainly go back.

“Good hotel except for the balnéo bath”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2011

We very much enjoyed our one night stay at this hotel. The setting is great, the rooms and restaurant are good. My one disappointment was paying extra to have a balnéo (jacuzzi) bath and then arriving to find you were not able to use the bath between 22.00 and 6.00. This seems ridiculous as most people want to have a bath after 22.00. The reason for this was because of the noise. I feel that they should have upgraded their soundproofing before installing the baths......

Room Tip: all rooms have lake views - but some are hidden behind a tree!
