“Good choice for a stopover”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2011

We stayed in several 'stopover' hotels, and this was easily the best one. A cut above the Akena/Etap types, and felt more like a family-run hotel (even though it is a chain). the room was basic but good value, and the reception staff were pleasant and helpful.
We didn't eat in the restautrant (closed on Sundays), but there is a Buffalo Grill nearby so we ate there.
Breakfast was buffet style, with reasonable choice. There was even an egg-boiling machine!
Laon is well worth visiting, particularly the cathedral. There is a large carpark in the old town, or if you're lucky you can park in front of the Hotel de Ville. Alternatively park near the railway station and take the funicular railway to the top of the hill - great fun!

“Very friendly service and free wi-fi”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 August 2011

Rooms are ordinary and breakfast (8 €) is sufficient but nothing to write home about. Service at the reception and same person at breakfast buffet were extremely helpful. The Hostellerie is easy to find, have more atmosphere than Etap, Formule1 etc. and is low priced. We did spend the evening up in the old part of Laon which used to be fortified.

“Excellent stopover on the way to Calais”

Room but smelt of ciggies despite asking for a smoke free room. Otherwise very welcoming and very good restaurant for evening and breakfast. Get there in time to visit the old town, maps available from reception. Cheap fuel from supermarket in indstrial area just off motorway.

Room Tip: Very good budget stop over hotel

“Pleasantly Suprised”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2010

Good reviews on Tripadvisor and not disapointed. Large spacious reception area, and friendly staff. Simple but clean room with all the usual facilities, and car park outside the room window. Used the attached restaurant in the evening and ate a good, hot, and quickly served meal. The menu is a typical motel type but with German / French interpretation. It appears to be owned or run by a German Brewery, Kantabrau, so is themed to their products. Breakfast was 8 euros per person and was the usual continental but lots to choose from. If I am to be very picky, I would have preferred a wall shower over the bath instead of the hand held variant, but that is all. Cost of the room alone was just over £49.00

“Nice place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 May 2010

Stayed for one night - a sunday when the restaurant was closed so can't comment on that, however the room was clean and pleasent and quiet. The staff were helpful in suggesting eating alternatives and how to get to the 'Old town' area as the Hotel was in the 'Suburbs' - easy to find from major roads though. The cathedral is a must see. We ate in the next door Campanile Hotel which was ok. The continental Breakfast was simple but sufficient.
