This year we made a 4-week trip in Brittany (Bretagne) and the Loire Valley and had booked beforehand some nice chateau-hotels and special b&b addresses, all checked on Tripadvisor.
For our planned 1-day visit to the city of Nantes (4 hours in fact would have been more than sufficient) we chose for a 2-night stay in Chateau d'Yseron, some 15 miles east of Nantes, near the village of Vallet. This was a really wonderful experience.
The chateau is owned by Olivier de Saint-Albin, who grows his own grapes for the famous Muscadet wine and transformed last year his old small "directoire style" chateau into a lovely bed & breakfast accommodation.
Olivier speaks fluently English and Italian and looks after his guests himself. He joins for breakfast (with delicious homemade marmelades) and before going out for dinner he invites you for a glass of his own Muscadet.
Beautifully decorated spacious bedrooms with adjacent modern bathroom. This really was a very pleasant stay and we had interesting conversations with the owner, who advised us about dining, our visit to Nantes and the best way to continue our trip to the Loire Valley.
Excellent address!!
