“nice, spacious hotel in a quiet area.......”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 February 2011

This hotel has relatively large rooms and excellent services but is located away from downtown. It is around a mile from the station and in a quiet neighborhood. There are a few shops at walking distance but that is about it. This is actually an island connected to the main city area with bridges. If you are looking for a quiet evening with no disturbance then this is what I would recommend.

“Straight out of 1970s Eastern Europe”

I stayed at the Mercure Ile de France during a recent international conference in Nantes. The hotel is unattractive from the outside, and not much better on the inside. The staff are pleasant, but the facilities are limited. There is a small restaurant and a small lobby bar, but neither are particularly pleasant to be in. The rooms are tired and old-fashioned. The location isn't very handy either; I only stayed there because all the more central hotels were already fully booked. Overall I don't rate this hotel highly.

“Our worst Hotel on the trip - Ile De Nantes is like East Germany”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2010

We were travelling with two young children and stayed here for one night before heading into the Loire Valley.
The Ile De Nantes is a terrible place and location. It looks like East Germany after the fall of the wall - terrible Government designed cheesy buildings.
The Hotel is not close to any sites or restaurants in Nantes.
The Hotel is very old, in poor shape and needs renovated in a bad way!
The parking lot is gated with a security button and made us wonder how safe the area was to be in.
Breakfast was a typical Mercure breakfast and was good.

“Immaculate hotel but bit far out if you want to enjoy Nantes centre”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 July 2010

The hotel is very well presented inside but the exterior could do with a spruce up. Unfortunately there is currently a lot of regeneration work being done in the surrounding area so there are roadworks, diggings and cordens everywhere!. The location outside of Nantes (on the 'island' off the mainland) is ok but it did take 30 mins to walk into city centre. There is nothing in the surrounding area other than businesses and carparks.
The staff, in particular Cyril, were very accomodating. Despite an error in booking (our fault) Cyril did his utmost to help and solved the issue quickly and kindly. The room was a good size and very clean. The bed however was not very comfortable at all.
