“Old fashion luxury in peaceful location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2011

Stayed one night here en route from south of Spain to uk. Lovely location overlooking river. We ate in the bistro and had a fabulous meal. I would definitely recommend the souffle with chocolate sauce mmmmm. Beautifully restored Chateau tastefully decorated. Some parts on second floor 'bit tired' looking but on the whole fantastic. The breakfast was excellent but slightly overpriced, we thought, at 26Euros, when the evening meal was only 38Euros! However all was fabulous and the owner Anja was very friendly and helpful. It definitely recharged our batteries after a 9hour drive!

“A beautiful place to stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2011

We spent two nights in Noirieux at the end of August, while visiting the Chateaux de la Loire with the children. The hotel itself is beautiful and the service is very friendly. We stayed in rooms in the main Chateau, which were beautiful and very tastefully done, with beautiful river views.

The 'average' rating is due to the fact that, notwithstanding the beauty of the place, we did feel that the price was a bit high for what we received. The toiletries are average, the towels are tired / threadbare, as is the carpeting. We ate two suppers in the restaurant, and thought that the food was overpriced - our meals were adequate but hardly memorable, and we have eaten vastly superior and cheaper meals at Michelin two-starred restaurants. The breakfast illustrates the difficulties of many French hotels in understanding international clientele - it was very expensive, very slow, and wasteful (the children like to have eggs with a bit of bread in the morning, which are an extra, and left uneaten the baskets of croissants which are brought willy-nilly to the table).

Our advice would be to stay at Noirieux if you want a bit of Chateau life, as a treat, but have your meals elsewhere.

Room Tip: Rooms in the Chateau have a lovely view of the river, and their high ceilings give a taste of Chatea...

“Loved this place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

Everything from the room overlooking the Loire to the food was pure perfection at Chateau de Noirieux! I cannot think of enough superlatives to describe the setting, our room, the food, the view. In short: you must visit!

Room Tip: get a view of the river

“Another delightful visit”

We return to Noirieux whenever the opportunity arises - we love it. This time it was the third Relais Chateaux hotel on our trip to France and by far the best of the three. Madame Come extends a very warm welcome and her presence maintains very high standards. Our room was in the main chateau with a lovely view of the Loir and lots of special touches like fruit and walnuts, a night time treat, tomorrow's weather etc.
Monsieur Come's food is delicious and worthy of awards - beautifully presented with flavours to match - try the sweetbread dish which is exceptional! The staff are helpful and professional without being stuffy.
We can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: If you want the view book a room in the main chateau

“Magical!”

Everything is absolutely perfect at the Chateau de Noirieux. We did not stay in the main house but in the renovated stables, and the room was quite spacious and lovely for my husband and me, with a pull-out couch for my daughter. The toiletries are unusually nice. The food is amazing, and the staff is absolutely wonderful. They can be terribly formal and accommodating, but underneath those proper exteriors are wonderful people with excellent senses of humor and an appreciation for the human condition. One evening after dinner my daughter played the very old, very beautiful piano in the salon. It was late, and weren't sure that she should be playing. As we left, we saw that everyone—even the chef!— had been drawn out to listen, and they were all smiling. Quite magical! The pool is lovely, too.
