The hotel looks beautiful and the location in the abbey grounds is stunning. Our room was 'superior' but tiny and rather worn. Hot water was intermittent and the heating didn't work; nothing like a hairdryer. It was very quiet and peaceful in the room however, once you had come in from the very bleak corridor. Breakfast was very good; squeeze your own juice, boil your own egg. The bar was too cold to sit in as it is by the main door to reception. The restaurant was lovely

Located in a medieval monastery, this small hotel is very clean and comfortable, and has an excellent restaurant. My room looked out on an orchard - rooms on the courtyard are not as pleasant. The room was small but well appointed.
Definitely not recommended for wheelchair users, although there is a lift.

I believe the hotel will be closing soon for complete refurbishment.

The rooms are tiny. Really tiny. (the normal, standard rooms. Not sure if they have executive rooms or suites or similar)
The place is wonderful and it's simply a great experience to spend a night in the surroundings of a former abbey. It's nice and quite in the night and you have the place to yourself.
The breakfast is absolutely great. Nice, tasty buffet. But the real good thing is the location of the restaurant as it is in the cloister of the abbey. You can't miss it, it's an experience in itself! We didn't have diner there as it was quite expensive, but the EUR 14 for breakfast were well worth it.
They also rent bikes if you are staying for longer (we only stayed one night), which I would have done had I known before how wonderful this place is.
Don't miss it!

Good points: Well located hotel for Loire Valley within walled grounds of fabulous Abbey de Fontevraud which is a "must see". Good quality breakfast and dinner.
Not so good points: Bedroom are very average off long corridors and with tired fittings, just like a cheap hotel. You get charged for entrance to Abbey (but are not told when booking) even if you have already visited and don't want another ticket. Car park is a 200m walk away. Access to electrically operated hotel gates is magical mystery trip from village with no previous advice from hotel staff how to find it. Staff numbers seem low and difficult to find on occasions.
Would we go back: If only for location and setting, but "value" is questionable.
