We found the hotel v easy to find, it's right next to the train station very close to main square. that was all well and good, but we arrived around 1930 to find the hotel locked and shut up in complete darkness with "fermé" on the door. We knew the reception closed at 2000 so we made sure we'd be in time for this but had no idea they'd cop off half an hour early! there was however a number on the door which we rang and we were given a code to get in and our room was open. (Not sure what you'd do if you didn't speak french?!) other than this we found our room lovely, v big with 2 double beds for 3 of us so we had plenty of space, and a massive bathroom. we didn't see anyone throughout our whole time there apart from the hotel manager! it was a rather creepy place but comfy and warm, and they did have free wifi (code is in the room).
The final day we knew we had to check out at 11 so we were up at 1015 (tired from night out before!) and i was opening the curtains in my pyjamas when i turned around to see the hotel guy looking at us in the door way with a confused look on his face as if to say "oh, you havent gone yet! and why?!" that was embarrassing and we ended up rushing to be out there by half past, as he said 11 was too late. hmmm. to top it all off he said there was no where we could leave our bags until the afternoon! even the very cheapest hostels have this facility, and where i have stayed where they havnt they let you put them in the corner in the recpetion out of the way! maybe he was angry at us for checking out late..
so yes nice enough, but be warned that they have a very unconventional way of running a hotel!! it wouldn't put me off staying again though, it was v cheap, and Rouen is lovely.
