“comfortable clean with good access to Rouen”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 December 2007

Good Hotel with free car parking either underground or on well surfaced park at the rear of the hotel with a reception operated barrier. Larger than average sized rooms with double glazing which significantly reduced noise of traffic on busy roads adjacent.. Reception staff were friendly and helpful.

Rouen Centre is a short walk (10 mins max) away with many attractions, shops and restaurants. Excellent hotel for short city break.

“A good, basic hotel.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2007

This hotel is fairly basic but comfortable. We found it to be clean and pleasant. The staff speak English, the food in the restaurant was fine and although the breakfast room can experience large numbers arriving at the same time, the staff cleared tables and replenished food and drink regularly. The food was okay by us - teapots available was also a bonus for English folk! It is situated on major routes but the compensation is its close proximity to the wonderful old quarter of Rouen. Noise wasn't a problem. Our room was cleaned and tidied and the bathroom was also cleaned and toiletries provided. Maybe our standards are less demanding than others who have commented on the Kyriad. If you want more then try a 3 star hotel.

  • Liked — comfortable and convenient for shopping area

“dirty!”

First impressions, looks like a prison block!
Reception area and bar pleasant but the corridors and rooms left much to be desired.
Our rooms had not been dusted in years and no counterpane on the bed.
Just as well we were only there for one night.

“Run down and disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2007

This hotel is within a short walk of the city centre, and so very convenient - but almost under a busy flyover, in a run-down area, which is badly lit at night. The car park is rutted and full of deep puddles. We were not happy leaving our car there although there was a CCTV camera. The public areas of the hotel were run-down and dirty. The carpets did not look as if they had been hovered for a while and there was mud, litter and a cigarette butt on the stairs. Our room was clean but basic. It was acceptable but you would not want to spend a lot of time there! The dirty window looked out over the flat-roof of the kitchen - covered with stagnant pools of standing water. The bath had seen better days with cracks and chips in the enamel; the towels were stained and thin. A noisy heating unit in the room switched itself on and off every 15 minutes or so all night long. Breakfast was dreadful. The coffee was lukewarm. The crockery and coffee jugs were past their best - cracked and not all that clean. There was no water for the kettle. The orange juice was watered down. The rolls and croissants appear to have been heated first thing and left, so were cold and hard. There were not enough tables and no staff in evidence to clear tables or replenish the food and drink. The only plus point was that the Reception staff were friendly and cheerful; otherwise there is little to recommend this hotel other than its proximity to the centre of Rouen, and we were glad we had only booked for one night.
