This hotel is within a short walk of the city centre, and so very convenient - but almost under a busy flyover, in a run-down area, which is badly lit at night. The car park is rutted and full of deep puddles. We were not happy leaving our car there although there was a CCTV camera. The public areas of the hotel were run-down and dirty. The carpets did not look as if they had been hovered for a while and there was mud, litter and a cigarette butt on the stairs. Our room was clean but basic. It was acceptable but you would not want to spend a lot of time there! The dirty window looked out over the flat-roof of the kitchen - covered with stagnant pools of standing water. The bath had seen better days with cracks and chips in the enamel; the towels were stained and thin. A noisy heating unit in the room switched itself on and off every 15 minutes or so all night long. Breakfast was dreadful. The coffee was lukewarm. The crockery and coffee jugs were past their best - cracked and not all that clean. There was no water for the kettle. The orange juice was watered down. The rolls and croissants appear to have been heated first thing and left, so were cold and hard. There were not enough tables and no staff in evidence to clear tables or replenish the food and drink. The only plus point was that the Reception staff were friendly and cheerful; otherwise there is little to recommend this hotel other than its proximity to the centre of Rouen, and we were glad we had only booked for one night.
