“Where shall I start...”

Let's start with the check-in procedure. I think I never stayed in a hotel where I the staff was so unfriendly and careless. We got our keys and got sent to our room right away.

Once in the room, the lights were off, the heat was off too...Again, I never experienced that in any other hotel before. I called the reception to ask for a space heater later in the evening, after cranking up the heat but they told me that they didn't have any. I posted two pictures of the heaters for you to see how they expect to get a family suite heated up in the winter. It's ridiculous! Since we were cold, we called the reception again and asked for extra blankets. They told us to come to the reception to get them. Is that a 3* hotel or what?

On their website, it says that the family suite with a double bed on the second floor and two single beds on the 1st floor features bathrooms (with an S). To my big disappointment, there was only 1 bathroom on the 1st floor and 1 sink upstairs. The sink was dirty and so was the mirror. No trash, no amenities. The bathroom on the 1st floor featured very poor amenities, bad toilet paper and no shower curtain. Honestly, I didn't feel bad when the water sprayed all over the bathroom!

The breakfast is 11 euros/pers. After a bad night, we didn't feel like giving them more money. We had a look at the buffet but it looked very poor for 11 euros.

Regarding the spa, we entered it, there was nobody to help, so we went back to the reception. So basically, they don't provide towels in the spa. You bring the towels from your room and then you bring them back to the reception and get new ones after using the spa. Is it a joke? Back to the spa, we didn't find the "lockers" as they call them at the reception. They came with us to show us a shelf where to store our shoes and clothes in a 20x20 box. Not my definition of a locker! People walk with their dirty shoes all over the spa area. You can use the sauna for an additional charge but if someone joins you in the sauna that you paid for, the person uses it for free basically.

I could criticize this hotel more and more but what's the point...you got a taste for it. Now you can think there was maybe a language barrier. It happens that there are misunderstanding because of the language. Well...I'm 100% French :-)

The only positive note was the bed: really good quality mattress, sheets and pillows.

Don't waste your money in that place!

“Excellent quick stay - very friendly and helpful staff”

About 20 min walk outside the centre of Honfleur, this made the ideal overnight stay to break the trip back to Calais from the South of France. Very efficient and helpful staff - great when dealing with young kids. Rooms are up to standard if a little cosy. Has a swimming pool but we didn't have time to use it. Good breakfast.

“Great value hotel”

We stayed here for a long weekend, using the hotel as a base for travelling in the area. The hotel is on par with a Premier Inn. The room we had overlooked the car park at the front. It was a bit small but the bathroom was huge and looked like it had all been refurbished recently. Room was really clean with comfy beds, there was even a large tv to watch the World Cup! Only downside was the room was a bit hot but then the outside temperature was about 30. There was some road noise too from the early morning traffic. Hotel has good facilities. The pool is lovely, although small but nice to coll down after a day sightseeing. There are some sun loungers outside too. Breakfast was plentiful. Typically French and plenty of it. It was nice to eat it outside on the decked area at the back of the hotel. Antares is located a bit out of Honfleur but the 20 min walk was OK. The centre of Honfleur is really pretty with dozens of restaurants to chose from. A lovely place to stay. Whilst staying here we visited all of the DDay sites, Deuville and some of the other less familiar beaches. I all a fantastic break although be warned your money doesnt go very far. One night we fancied a coffee and Amaretto= 23 Euros for 2 of each!! Food is more reasonably priced though, i just seems to be the drink.

“Very good, but a little expensive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 June 2010

We stayed in the Duplex Room for four. Twin bedroom with stairs upstairs to double bed. Separate toilet, bathroom and sink, 2 flat screen tv's. Very clean but no tea / coffee facilities. Staff very friendly and helpful. Nice clean pool which we largely had to ourselves. We got a deal on the hotel but breakfast is pricey at 11 euros each, we didn't bother and provisioned from supermarket. Plenty of restaurants around the pretty harbour but again expensive. Plenty of art/antique shops.

“Good hotel, well managed, nice pool, safe parking”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 June 2010

As two couples, we used this hotel as a base for touring the area over several days. Please note that the hotel does not have a restuarant for evening meals, but there are a lot of excellent restaurants in the town -so either enjoy a 15/20 minute walk, 2 min car drive or a 10 Euro taxi (cheap between 4) and keep the taxi number for the journey back.

Breakfast was usual continental and enjoyable.

Important to us was good off road parking and the hotel has this at no charge.

Rooms were clean and cleaned every day.

The pool was very good.

The staff were hardworking and efficient - notably so on reception.

Would we go back? - Yes
