This hotel is as lovely as the town of Honfleur itself. We arrived via Paris - took a train at Gare St. Lazare to Lisieux and from there a bus to Honfleur. Make sure you have Euros to get on the bus as they don't except credit cards. We had 2 big suitcases which was a little cumbersome to carry through all the transfers, but if you're young and able it's very doable.
The hotel is right across from St. Catherine's Cathedral on a cobblestone street in the center of town. The location couldn't have been any better. The staff at the reception all speak English and are helpful. A young gentleman checked us in and carried both of our 50 lbs bags up to the 3rd flr of the hotel through winding narrow stairs. The room is good-sized compared to Paris hotels. It has a double bed, a desk, a small sitting area, a closet and a TV on a dresser. The bathroom is huge even by American standards. It has a deep and wide bathtub/shower combo. There's even a little bench in the bathroom that resembles a church pew. The decor is fine, but I wish they would get rid of the dirty looking bedspread and shams and just leave the crisp white linens underneath only. My other complaint is the lack of air-conditioning. We went at the start of the Fall season so the weather has cooled down. We opened the windows during the day to let the cool air in but had to close them when we went to bed to avoid letting the mosquitoes in as there were no screens on the windows. It got a bit stuffy at night and it was hard for me to sleep.
On the second night, I woke up a bunch of flea bites on my legs (this hotel does allow pets). I'm a clean freak and always travel with my own bathrobe, towel, and slippers. The hotel does provide slippers so I didn't have to use my own. The bathrobes looked plush and inviting so I decided to use it instead of the one I brought. I found strands of hair on the first one and the same on the second one, so decided not to use them afterall. The towels also had hair on them so I ended up using my own towel the entire stay.
The hotel does provide free WIFI but the signal was very weak in our "attic" room, but they have a gorgeous library downstairs where you can sit and relax if you want to work or browse on your computer with better signals.
The breakfast looks good, but at 15 Euros it's too pricey so we didn't try it and went to a nearby boulangerie to get some baked goods. Save your money and have a nice dinner out at some of the fabulous restaurants in town. L'Ecailleur is a favourite of ours. Le Breard is supposed to be one of the best there but it was closed on Mon & Tue. The receptionist at the hotel can help you make reservations to the restaurants.
Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel but with a few minor changes it would be perfect.
