“Hidden gem”

Booked as package with Brittany Ferries so didn't quite know what to expect, lovely surprise. A very welcoming, warm comfortable hotel. All rooms have been modernised and probably due to the very reasonable rate we got for the whole trip we did have one of smaller rooms but it was lovely; beautifully decorated and very clean. The breakfasts were lovely with large selection to choose from. The situation of this hotel is also a huge bonus just few yards from the sea front and within walking distance of many restaurants. Parking was no problem this time of year but expect in the height of the season would be a bit difficult. This area is lovely and one can travle to other areas very easliy.

“Good Value for Money and Excellent Location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2010

We stayed two nights here, and it is good value for money because the location is ideal in a quiet side street in the centre of Trouville-sur-mer, which makes it easy to get to Deauville by boat and/or foot and provides excellent access to all of the town's restaurants. The beach is beside the hotel, a two minute walk to the boardwalk.

Upside
-Location, location, location: Excellent!
-Our room, 301, looked absolutely nothing like the pictures on the site (less pretty than the rooms on the site) and was perhaps an un-renovated room. It had orange and red curtains and bed linens. However, the room was a good size and the bathroom was clean and modern. Comfortable all around.

Downside
-It is a two star so you won't have nice soap or shampoo - bring your own
-Avoid reakfast, at 20 euros for two, is really disappointing: very basic pot coffee with a few plain, dry croissants and pain au chocolates and a yoghurt. I do not recommend paying such a high price when there are many restaurants and bakerys around that can serve you for under 7 euros and at much higher quality.

I am on the fence for service because the lady who welcomed us was nice but seemed to get more and more stressed out as the weekend went on, often settling problems on the phone and not particularily proactive in helping us find a restaurant on night 2. No one asked us if were happy with our stay. The bill was given, we paid and we left.

Overall, great location for a decent price and comfortable rooms. If they lowered the price of breakfast and upped the customer service just a bit, it would make a nice difference. I recommend this hotel for a short weekend away.

“OK for backpackers”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 June 2009

We started to book too late so did not find any decent hotels in this part of Normandy at that time. The value-price ratio is OK, the hotel does not want to be more than it is. It is OK for teenagers, backpackers but anyone who needs some comfort does not want to sleep here. Trouville has no centre and nothing to see but close to Deauville hence location of hotel is not important.

“Lovely Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 May 2009

What a pleasant suprise. As this is a 2 star hotel our expectations were that it may be a little run down. Its a lovely hotel, the rooms are nice, light and airy. It certainly doesn't seem like a 2 star. All of the staff are friendly ( I'd forwarned my American husband that the French can be a bit tetchy!) not at all, they treated us very well. There is nothing to complain about here, well maybe that it wasn't that easy to find. Value for money? well it costs more locally for a very basic meal than a night's stay for 2.

“Excellent budget hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2008

Wonderful hotel for the money. Simple, central and very very clean. The bathroom was big enough to move around in without mortal injury to elbows and toes.
Room 101 glows orange all night from the street lamp just outside - take an eyemask!
And the breakfast pastries lived up to all previous good reviews.
