“a real Palace”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

A real old-fashioned GRAND hotel in the best manner of speaking, very well maintained in the public areas, an impeccable room, very clean bathroom too!
All the men and women working in this hotel did their best to make you feel welcome, they all greeted you with a smile ! Many hotelmanagers could follow courses here to learn their personel to act in the same way.Its not that difficult.
The "cuisine" was not bad, but not very exciting, I would say "average plus" and a 3 course menu for 55 euros is regarding the price-qualityratio rather stiff. Breakfast excellent, nothing to complain about. Conclusion: a very recommendable adress to go to.

“Good place to stay”

Location is very nice, close to the casino. I am sure it was very nice once it was new (still it is not bad), now, it needs some refurbishment. Service is nice, breakfast is excellent.
Bed is extremely comfortable and curtain is good enough to make completely dark for the night. Room was silent, it is very positive.
All in all it a romantic place.

Room Tip: Choose a room with view on the sea, not the ground floor.

Dear BittersweetBudapest,

First of all I would like to thank you for sharing your comments on the Tripadvisor website.

Indeed, the Normandy Barriere is well located between the beach (5 mn walk), the casino (5mn walk) and the heart of the city (5mn walk too !)

As you noticed we did refurbish our Lobby and Bar and we are planning to continue with all of our rooms to improve the guest’s experience.

Hope to see you again at your next visit to Deauville.

Best Regards,

Rémy PAPOZ

This weekend at the Normandy was a birthday present and we had an excellent time.
We came with our 3months old baby and we had everything sorted and ready for her.
Top service, extremely friendly and professional staff!
Check the wine list, amazing choice of Champagnes!

“Taking you back to the hayday of grand beach hotels.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 December 2011

We had a brilliant long weekend having driven from the UK and despite the fact that it rained for almost 72 hours. It was a French Bank Holiday but still we managed to get an up grade to a double under the eaves and overlooking the tennis courts and wide sandy beach beyond. Not a large room and perhaps a little dated but immaculate and wonderfully comforable. It is a big hotel so if you want boutique/designer then perhaps not for you though I still think you would find charm in this quintessentially Victorian seaside hotel.

You can imaging generations of families decamping here from Paris and certainly there were some immaculately couiffered, coiffered lacoste wearing guests in residence. The hotel has a lovely rather 50 ish beach front brasserie which even in the rain had plenty of appeal. Parking was no trouble and the entrance on the back shares a garden square with an array of smart french boutiques leading on to streets of cafe's, brasseries and interior design boutiques.

The casino is pretty shabby and probably nothing like its former self. We missed the racing which has a big pull in these parts.

A few bonus points for Deauville is that you can stopped in Hon Fleur for lunch on the way down from the Eurotunnel and on the Sunday after checking out we heading for another outstanding lunch along side the market in Trouville (linked to Deauville)- think it was called Le Central. Here we sat under the awning, whilst it continued to rain, shoulder to shoulder with well heeled friend friends gossiping and enjoying layers of Fruits de Mer and wine. Excellent.

Room Tip: High up and sea view - the site of this wide beach is glorious

Le Normandy Barriere Hotel in Deauville
French arrogance at his best. Payed for a superior class room with a view of the pool, it was ground floor with view of the street, where is the pool? well we don't have any.
Came home to sleep at 11:30 pm our room door was locked No one could open it after several attempts they had to force it open, then they gave us a room that was not renovated in the old part of the hotel and no longer a connedting room with our friends, that we came to spend time with.. We were so upset, that our French friends told us we should have stayed at a cheaper hotel and have better service. By 1 pm we were able to settle in another room next to our friends after us ranting and raving. No it is not worth the 300 euro a night, beautiful hotel but very bad management.......

Dear jbreassoc1,

I’m sorry that your stay didn’t come up to your expectations and your plans of spending time with friends were darkened by the problem with your door. This problem has never occurred before and I give you my sincere apology for that incident.

Some of the classique and superior rooms are facing the indoor pool, others – the town. During week-ends and holidays our children’s club Diwi offers activities in the pool, so in order to make your stay agreeable and peaceful we have offered you the rooms facing the town.

Upon arrival you receive a ‘Pass Evasion’ (Escape Pass) that gives you free or privileged access to a whole range of sports and leisure activities plus special offers from our partners for tennis, water sports or spa treatments at reduced rates. So during your stay you can enjoy not only your room and service, but indoor and outdoor activities and Deauville itself.

We would be glad to see you next time and hope that we will brighten your impression of the Normandy Barriere.
