We selected this hotel on the basis of reviews here and availability as a stopover between an evening Ferry arrival and onward travel further south the following day.
Whilst it was quite basic and the decor a little "tired" (that bizarre 80's carpet-effect-wallpaper), the family suite was exactly what we needed, comprising a main room with a double bed single bed and TV, an adjoining area with another double bed, and a tiny bathroom with toilet, washbasin and shower. The room, bedsheets and bathroom were all clean. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was a minimal continental-style juice/coffee/croissant/roll combination (optional extra cost).
I initially booked through venere(-) a couple of months in advance and obtained confirmation immediately but a couple of weeks later I telephoned the hotel to double-check, and they had never heard of me. I speak poor French and the concierge spoke reasonable English so communication was not a problem, and we were able to make our booking after all! The price was 52EUR for 2 adults + 2 children, breakfast was 20EUR extra.
Use maps.google.com to get a map and check the one-way system, the hotel is signposted once you get in to the Cherbourg old town area and parking on the street outside is not a problem. There are plenty of reasonable restaurants nearby for an evening meal, and the ferry port is close by also.

Spent a night here last week on a 24 hour trip to Cherbourg from Poole to stock up the wine rack.Arrived about 21.45. A pleasant young man who spoke fair English checked us in and offered us breakfast in the morning which we accepted. He gave us the four digit number to get back in to the hotel if we were to go out which we did.The room was spotless with an ensuite shower and w.c.Lovely comfy bed. The same young man served us a totally acceptable continental breakfast. The downside was the total lack of parking near the hotel. We ended up at the yacht club. On previous booze cruises we have spent the night in a cabin on the ferry. This was so much better. More relaxing, longer to sleep and much cheaper. I wouldn't hesitate to do the same again.

This hotel was adequate in facilities and was good in price, but, we found it lacked in friendliness. The hotels decor could use refreshing but it was clean. Breakfast was sparse in content but the quality was OK.

My boyfriend and I stayed 2 nights in a double room with a (seperate) toilet and a shower. Everything was very clean, and the furniture was really nice. The continental breakfast (oj, coffee/hot chocolate, croissant, bread/butter/preserves)was very nice; the owners checked a couple of times to make sure we had enough. We also received a brochure with restaurants, and one with interesting places to visit. The hotel is very centrally located. The new owners arrived on December 19, 2005. If we ever need a place to stay in Cherbourg again, this is where we will stay.
