During our visit to France we got the opportunity to stay in a truly unforgettable chateau in Cherbourg. I was a little skeptical based on the previous reviewers comments, however, was pleasantly surprised by the accommodations. As a seasoned traveler, I'm aware of what to expect in a bed and breakfast environment. When we checked in we were given a key to the chateau and a brief orientation of the layout. The Chateau is situated in a large park that has 5 or 6 different walking trails through beautiful gardens and wooded areas. The original village homes that surround the chateau beautifully compliment the property. During your stay you can see the many animals located on the property. There are no shortage of horses, lama, pigmy goats and swans to name a few. When we returned in the evening we were able to let ourselves in and enjoyed wine and cheese in the parlor before retiring for the evening. In the morning, a traditional French breakfast awaited complete with the BEST coffee and croissants you could ask for. We stayed a total of 3 nights while visiting the many port villages in the region during the day. Oh, did I mention the chateau is home to an honest to goodness Count as well? If you require someone to hold your hand during the evening, this may not be the place for you, but if you like bed and breakfasts this is definitely one to visit!
