We stayed at this hotel in October for two nights. It had been booked on the road and we were pleased with the hotel in general. It is very hard to find since Caen is full of one-way streets and this borders a pedestrian zone as well. At least there are road signs that direct you to the hotel once you are within a block or two.
Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, provided local maps, recommended alternative restaurants for dinner and even provided discount tickets for the Peace Museum. The room was good size and clean. There were many restaurants within walking distance, so you could park the car in the underground parking lot directly across the street from the hotel and walk to dinner and some of the sights around town. The Peace Museum requires bus or car transport, however.
The breakfast was extra, but more than adequate with cereal, yogurt, breads, fruit, juice, coffee and tea.
The major downside was the climate control. The outside temperatures were in the 70s and 80s Fahrenheit and the room faced the street and the afternoon sun. It was hot. Since it was after the first Monday in October, the Air conditioning had been turned off and the heat was on. Hence, the only air circulation we could get in the room was hot. Having the windows open helped with air flow, but the outside street noise was so bad with party-goers headed to the parking lot, street cleaners and delivery trucks that sleep was difficult at best.
The hotel staff was very apologetic about the heat (lack of AC) and offered to move us to a non-west facing room. They also provided a free breakfast as compensation. As with many hotels in Europe, the heat and air conditioning are controlled by the calendar, so be aware of predicted temperatures before you book your stay.
Room Tip: Street rooms are subject to significant noise if you keep windows open.
