Otelinn costs less than one hundred US dollars per night. What that means in the US typically is that your hotel is a bit sketchy, and indeed, the same rings true abroad.
When we arrived in Caen the hotel was difficult to find and, when asking locals, no one seemed to know where the hotel was. Definitely not a good sign. The hotel does not seem unsafe but is definitely no frills and, contrary to other opinions, really didn't seem that clean to me. I felt dirty the entire time and wore my flip-flops until getting into the bed so my feet wouldn't touch the carpet. The room is dated with a low, uncomfy bed, and the staff is difficult to interact with if your French is not up to par as they are not extremely proficient in English. We did not dine at Otelinn but the dining room/ restaurant is the best looking part of the hotel, so it may be adequate. Do not be fooled by the resaurant pictures as the rooms are not decorated in the same style nor as cleanly kept. Final tip--be careful when you check out as they may try to charge you for things that you didn't use (they tried to charge us for the buffet breakfast although we didn't even eat there). In the end, if you're just looking for a place for your head to hit the pillow, Otelinn will suffice. But if amenities, cleanliness, romance, or atmosphere is a priority, look elsewhere.
