“Calling All Canadians - this is the best Hotel in Normandy!!”

I have led student Battlefields tours to Europe & have stayed at the Churchill with groups as large as 45 and I have no hesitation in stating that this is 'the best Hotel in Normandy'! In fact it is the only hotel worthy my "Battlefields business". The service is 5-Star; the staff sets a high standard for accomodation; Rima & Jacques Hebert care deeply about getting the full
' Norman experience' while there, and (for Canadians) this is a wonderful location for your study of Juno Beach & the other Normandy beaches, centred as it is in Bayeux. While not the closest to the Caen/Courseulles/Bernieres for Canadians, Bayeux is the most evocative location for Battlefield interpreters and ideally situated for Canadians to access the WWII cemetaries as well. If your intention is to visit the Canadian Juno Beach Centre in Courseulles, then begin& end your stay at the Churchill.
Furthermore, on our most recent tour (in November 2011) we had several health-related incidents and the Churchill staff could not have been more helpful - the hospital in Bayeux is only 1km away. My wife & I stay exclusively at the Churchill when we travel to Normandy and I continue to recommend it to any-everyone who wishes to visit the area. You will not be disappointed

Room Tip: You will need to be aware that the Churchill has no lift (elevator for my american friends). This is...

“Great location and such friendly staff”

Just enjoyed this hotel and the area so very much. Looking forward to a return visit some day. they are building new rooms which will probably be open in 2012. We had a family room that was very comfortable for us and loved that we looked out over the courtyard. The outdoor sitting area was great for our night time snacks from the grocery store next door. The hotel was in walking distance of anything you could want or need in this beautiful town.

“Outstanding”

This hotel is a real gem however I think this is a well known fact as all guests were either English or American. The only negative to this hotel is the fact it does not have a lift and we were on the top floor. This is a minor inconvenience.

The hotel is wonderful! The staff, breakfast, room, ambience were all way above average. I would highly recommend you stay here while in Bayeux. They also arrange day trips to Mont St-Michel but we had already been so did not take advantage of their shuttle.

The hotel recommended wonderful restaurants, some of the best of our trip and were most helpful with all requests.

Bayeux is a beautiful town with so much to do. I would suggest you spend at least three nights here to see all the town has to offer as well as the surrounding country side and visit the Normandy beaches. This was by far my favourite hotel and stop of our three week trip to France.

Hotel Churchill is a wonderful hotel and perfectly located in a beautiful town.

The locals in Bayeux were most welcoming and we even found a bar to watch some of the rugby world cup. Unfortunately France lost but we thoroughly enjoyed watching and supporting France with the French.

“Wonderful hotel”

We stayed 2 nights at the Churchill Hotel in Bayeux. The hotel was charming and the front desk staff were very helpful. They called taxis for us and then followed up numerous times as, it seemed that it was a very busy day in the little town. Everyone spoke English but seemed to appreciate when you spoke French to them. The breakfast was good, with fresh bread and croissants. Your coffee was served in silver coffee pots. Very nice touch. There are a few little quirks in this hotel. There isn't an elevator and you had to lug your own bags up the stairs. We were on the top floor. The floors are also a little uneven. It wasn't too bad though.

Room Tip: If you don't want to lug your bags up too many stairs, ask for a room on a lower floor. They are...

“Unexpected Treat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011

After spending a week in Paris, we rented a mini-van & went to Bayeux. We stayed at the Hotel Churchill and it was fantastic. They eagerly corresponded with us before we left the USA, enthusiastically greeted us when we arrived, and made numerous great recommendations for food, sightseeing, and shopping. All of their recommendations were spot on. Their service and food was wonderful. The location could not have been better, right in the heart of Bayeux. Our family of 6 was divided into 2 rooms. The quad family room was fine with teenage children, but I don't recommend it for young children traveling as their is no bathtub and the door opens directly to the patio outdoors. Fun, spacious room otherwise with a very modern "wetroom" bath. Enjoy their gracious hospitality. We would definitely go back.

Room Tip: Skip the quad room in the summer.
