“Very romantic and a sheer delight.”

My wife organised this stay from Australia using Trip Adviser and other internet sites. Were we surprised when we got there. A real Chateau. We were given a room on the first floor, it was huge, very comfortable and we felt spoiled. The staff were attentive, even though our French was only rudimentary, the owner's English was pretty good. We stayed for 2 glorious nights. Very handy to beautiful Bayeux, the Normandy landing beaches ans even Mont Saint Michelle.
Food was ample and good, the only downside was the toilet was cramped and opened directly into our room instead of being in the bathroom (which was large with a bath and shower). The place was spotless and had an elevator.
We had a glorious view over Chateau's lake and swans from our suite. Grounds were well maintained and would be a perfect setting for a wedding. There is ample parking for those with a car.
Bayeux is a must see Medieval town and is absolutely charming, filled with cafe's and restaurants, churches and the marvelous Bayeux Tapestry.
Loved it, loved it, loved it. A great base to explore North West France.

“Beautiful chateau and great location but....”

Stayed 3 nights as part of our family trip to France. Grounds are very beautiful and it is close to all major historical location in Bayeux and beyond. Staff is friendly enough but we did not have much time for communication. We stayed in the apt.rooms as we were family of 4 adults. Rooms and bathroom are very modern. However, Toilet is on the ground floor and bathroom is on the 2nd floor????? Anyway we liked the fact our car could be pulled to the front of our room and we can load and unload very easily.
Breakfast is far too overpriced for coffee and some cold breads! Not cool!. We found the covers of downstair pullout beds were not washed regularly. Our sheets were not changed and we had to ask for towels. We did not want to make a fuss since up to then we have had a wonderful vacation in France and wanted to leave on a good note.
IT IS a good place to stay if you make sure your rooms are cleaned everyday and if you do not eat their breakfast.
Price was reasonable as well.

“Pretty grounds - nice staff, but had some disappointing aspects”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2011

I have to say the staff is very nice and the grounds are really pretty. It's a pleasant walk into the town centre.

The room was nice and spacious and the bathroom (we were in the Chateau) was really great! Very spacious bath tub - plenty of hot water and large heated towel rack.

The downside was the bed (two pushed together twins) was the most uncomfortable thing I had ever experienced. It was so hard - I felt like I was sleeping on cement. Had so many body aches and never could get comfortable. My husband could not even sleep.

Also they do not have menu's so we found it impossible to book for dinner as we had no idea what they were serving or how much it would cost - so we just did not eat there. I suppose if we spoke better French they could have told us. Just found that awkward that they did not have menus. The sitting room is also the dinning room and it seemed it was a popular business meeting spot. The guests sometimes cannot sit down stairs by the fire unless they are there for dinner when there are "business" clients using the room. Was again awkward as the hotel is on the expensive side and we got the feeling that there is more preferential treatment towards business guests that choose to eat/meet there.

The last comment was the internet. It was a pain as they give out 120 minute vouchers and when you run out you have to go down to get more vouchers. They will give you as many as you need for no charge, but it is difficult to get more than a couple at a time. This is inconvenient if you have multiple devices going or if you use the internet a lot.

That being said it was very picturesque and a good location.

Room Tip: The Chateau portion has nice private baths. It looked as though some rooms might have fireplaces...

“lush grounds, swans swimming....fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 November 2011

this is a beautiful place. Our room was very nice with a huge soaking tub in the bathroom.
We took a minivan tour of the D Day beaches and were the first to be dropped back at our hotel....when we turned into the gate and drove up the drive toward the hotel, past the wonderful small lake/large pond with the swans swimming...there was total slience in the van until one of our fellow tourist said OMG......its that amazing to look at.
The breakfast was good, breads, yogurts, cheese and the service was fine. My only complaint was when leaving and paying our bill in cash....they didn't have change! We just needed 30 euros back...I thought that was odd. But I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

“Quiet, serene....beautiful!”

My husband and I stayed here for three nights and enjoyed every minute of it. The hotel staff is helpful and pleasant. The hotel sits on beautiful land that has a pond, ducks, lots of greenery, and a tennis court (if you are interested). The roome that we had (#2) was spacious and accommodating. Everything was cleaned to perfection. The tub was spacious, but don't expect to be able to take a standing shower. We were able to use the free wifi that the hotel offered to look up restaurants in the Bayeux area. The staff was helpful in making reservations at each of the restaurants that we chose. Although we did not eat the breakfast that the hotel offered (for an additonal fee), there is that option. We chose to go into Bayeux for pastries and coffee. The prices of the rooms go up during high season. We got a great value for the time that we went. We went to visit the beaches for Veteran's Day. We would highly recommend this place to all that we know.
