I had a room on the top floor with a view of the garden and slanted woodbeam ceilings. To me, it had more the feel of a b and b, not that that is a bad thing. My room was lovely. Comfortable room and bed, and the hotel was very convenient to the town, being set off from the main street that leads into the main part of town, so a car is not needed for the town itself. I used the hotel as a base for the DDay beaches, and it worked well. In fact, some of my loveliest drives on this trip were on backroads my GPS led me through from the hotel to the beaches and back again. The toilet was not working right when I arrived, but they fixed it quickly although she was slightly accusatory when asking if I'd done anything to cause the problem. The breakfast was excellent and served in a charming room with a view of the garden. The staff were friendly and informative, although I did not like that I was run off the benches in front when I stopped for a quick sandwich. There was a sign that said don't have food there because they serve breakfast. I thought that it was not a problem since it was one o'clock and not breakfasttime. And there was no one around. Anyway, they chased me off. I thought that was tacky. But I liked this hotel very much and would return. It is central, clean, charming, quiet, and reasonably priced.

“Great”

The people at the Hotel d'Argouges were extremely nice and helpful, and the rooms are great. The bathroom appears to be recently renovated - huge shower and lots of space. The room is small but comfortable with plenty of space and a TV on the wall with a few English channels. Free wifi. Great view of the quaint Bayuex buildings. Not right next to the tapestry or train stations, but walkable. Parking behind the building, secured with a gate at 11pm. This was my second stay in Bayeux and I had a wonderful experience.

“Quaint small hotel in wonderful Bayeux”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

This is all you need in Bayeux. 3 stars under French system. Enter a courtyard with tons of flowers and enter this small hotel with 25 or so rooms. We arrived before check in but they were waiting on us and put our bags in a safe storage room. Small rooms and only a tub, no shower, and bathroom a bit small (like most of Europe). Nice patio/garden in back to have a drink before you hit the city. Only a few blocks to the cathedral, the tapestry and restaurants/shops.

Wi-fi and very clean. They can line up D-Day beach tours and staff was very, very friendly.

“very comfortable and well located”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

comfortable and very clean - nice bathroom - pleasant view over the rear garden- very good off street parking - very nice and professional staff - lots of steps so if you have difficulty do not consider this hotel for your stay - lots of shops and resturants nearby - was a good choice for our Normandy visit

“A Stay in a Garden Cottage”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2011

Stayed here two nights with a Rick Steves tour group. Was an excellent stay, we stayed in Room 17 which is in a seperate building from the main Chateau. Area is set off from the street and very quiet. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Hotel is a good base of operation to explore the Normandy area.
