I had a room on the top floor with a view of the garden and slanted woodbeam ceilings. To me, it had more the feel of a b and b, not that that is a bad thing. My room was lovely. Comfortable room and bed, and the hotel was very convenient to the town, being set off from the main street that leads into the main part of town, so a car is not needed for the town itself. I used the hotel as a base for the DDay beaches, and it worked well. In fact, some of my loveliest drives on this trip were on backroads my GPS led me through from the hotel to the beaches and back again. The toilet was not working right when I arrived, but they fixed it quickly although she was slightly accusatory when asking if I'd done anything to cause the problem. The breakfast was excellent and served in a charming room with a view of the garden. The staff were friendly and informative, although I did not like that I was run off the benches in front when I stopped for a quick sandwich. There was a sign that said don't have food there because they serve breakfast. I thought that it was not a problem since it was one o'clock and not breakfasttime. And there was no one around. Anyway, they chased me off. I thought that was tacky. But I liked this hotel very much and would return. It is central, clean, charming, quiet, and reasonably priced.
