“Beware, this hotel is in the middle of a building site!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 March 2007

This hotel is not really 'sold as seen.' We booked via Expedia for 3 nights over valentines day. This is a budget hotel, and i guess you get what you pay for. But the main problem i had with this place, was the fact that you were in the middle of a building site - literally!
The hotel does have some potential as a budget hotel, but it is not at that stage yet. The rooms were ok, quite small, nothing exceptional. Fold out bed, not enough pillows, but overall clean and warm.
The location is good, only 5 minutes walk to Metro station, but bear in mind, you have to walk across a muddy building site to get there. There are no proper roads leading up to the hotel, and as the other reviewer said, it doesn't even come up on a map/sat nav. The area around the hotel is poorly lit and i wouldn't feel comfortable walking through there alone.
There didn't appear to be any buffet breakfast while we were there, and there isn't anyone manning the desk at night, which is a pain if you encounter a problem.
There is good secure underground parking. If you stay here, i would suggest driving around the city in the evenings, but in the day time it's not too bad to walk to the Metro stop.
Overall this hotel is ok, but i think you need to wait a while before visiting - hopefully when the building work has been done! But for £40 a night, what can you expect?!

“A War Zone”

Well I booked this hotel via the Eurostar website thinking that being Eurostar they would have done their homework but they had not. They are blaming it on expedia as my complaint is processed, take it as you will but they are both at fault in my view.

Truly awfull.

I booked a trip away for my girlfriend and myself as a romantic valentines day surprise. A surprise it certainly was. We had difficulty locating the hotel which was due to the fact the road may have officially existed but as it is a new development no streetmap or taxi driver knew where it was. Finally we cam across a taxi driver who knew where it was and took us to the war zone. The position as far as location to the Metro is it's only saving grace (a five minute walk) but the location itself without exaggeration was a building site. There are about 6 different apartment developments going on around it with building matter everywhere. The roads are not proper roads and are made up of holey muddy tracks. Once arrived at the hotel we spoke to the reception which was a stroke of luck in itself as there was no one to be seen for the rest of the weekend (even though the website states the reception is open Saturday from 8am to 4pm. If this was the case then they have the invisible man on reception.

The room was very basic, although scraping through on acceptable with the exception of having a futon/fold out bed with what felt like a rubber mattress.

After speaking to Eurostar and them refusing to move us we had no option but to leave our luggage here and head for the city. We headed back from a day and evening in the city (I should state that I found Lille a wonderful place) to walk through this isolated and un-lit building site back to the apartment.
No lighting at all in the street which connects the hotel to the main road. It was a very unpleasant experience but by this stage we were getting used to it. We did make it back to the apartment and settled in for a very ordinary nights sleep.
We woke in the morning and went downstairs to try and find someone to give the key to and investigate the buffet breakfast but again there was no one to be seen. I ended up leaving the key behind the vacant counter and left the hotel.

I would not recommend that anyone go to this place whilst it is in the state it is in. The apartments have potential but if your idea of a romantic weekend is running the dark gauntlet, enjoying the view of unfinished buildings and a bit of nookie on a sleep reduction rubber fold out bed then this is the one for you!
