There were six of us (3 couples- all seniors) looking for a hotel in Lourdes. We arrived without advance reservations ignorant of the fact there would be hundreds of people in Lourdes for a procession around the famous church. After checking on several hotels that were sold out we booked our rooms at the BW Hotel Beausejour Lourdes. The front receptionist gave us a rate of 79 euros (a special rate) plus 5 euros for breakfast buffet.
Our rooms were extremely nicely appointed, clean and had balconies overlooking the street and train station located diagonally across the street. We never heard any trains during our stay so that tells me the hotel rooms were well sound proofed. Best part of this hotel is the lovely large terrace on the second floor which overlooks the back patio and much of Lourdes surrounding area. The hotel grounds are also lovely. The hotel has a private parking lot for which we could secure our van.
The hotel is within walking distance of everything you would want to see in Lourdes. We walked a few short blocks down the hill to the main street with shopping and multiple cafes. Not far from there is the river and church.
Breakfast the next morning was very nice buffet. As much coffee and tea as you would like, sliced meat, cheese, toast, croissants, assorted pastries, milk and cereal, yogurt, fruit, plus hot water to boil eggs if one desires.
On the downside turned out to be when we checked out. The front receptionist was a different person who did not honor the rate quoted the night before. We were told the rate quoted was for a single room without a balcony instead of double room with balcony which would cost 92 euros. He told us the night shift receptionist was new and had made a mistake. Even though we argued the hotel staff did not budge. Grudgingly we paid the higher amount. If didn't downgrade the hotel rating due to this disagreement with the staff since we should have insisted on paying the night before when the rate was quoted to us. That is our fault.
Room Tip: Ask for balcony room facing away from the street overlooking the terrace - and if quoted a good nigh...
