Difficult to put into words the wonderful experience that we enjoyed at Albas with the Saunders family.

The house was built in 1753 and overlooks the Lot River, the views are amazing. The village is small and beautiful with the local church bell tolling the time during the day.

Robin and Justin are such great hosts, giving you the feeling of being part of the extended family.

Robin has a very warm and friendly disposition and goes out of her way to make you welcome and including you in the family (birthday party). Robin's restaurant and village market recommendations added immense value to our stay.

Even though we are travelling with some items of technology, netbook, camera etc, we are not that techno-litrate. Justin went out his way and spent some time in con-ordinating our camera functions with the netbook's 'picture' function to improve our photos.

We were saddened to leave this wonderful experience and have made a committment to return.

The first tip-off was the helpful, friendly e-mail correspondence as we made our reservations. As we approached the house there was Robin carrying a huge load of brush with her hair in her face. This is a strong and committed family who have bought a wonderful property in Albas in order to bring up their children in the south of France. And they happen to rent out a few rooms to lucky ones like us. We met their friends and neighbors and had an inside look at rural France. We'd go back any time.

We stayed in the Garden Room - it was extra spacious, clean, comfortable and opened onto its own patio. Robyn is a delightful and informative host. Albas is a beautiful small village - very relaxing and a great base to tour the surrounding areas.

Robin Saunders is an American who has lived all over the world. She runs La Carriere as a place to relax, always understanding what it life is like for a traveler. She'll recommend restaurants and places to visit; she'll phone for reservations or information; she'll let you use her washer and dryer. She's laid back and enjoys doing things to enhance your trip. We arrived at La Carriere half way through a rushed 3-week driving trip through much of France. After two nights with Robin and her daughters I felt rejuvenated and as if I had made a true friend.
