“Nice hotel. Small but clean room. Friendly staff!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 July 2011

The hotel was located a bit outside the direct city centre but it was not very far to walk. The area was quiet during the night even though we had a room facint the street. The room was small but really nice with a balcony. Parking outside on the street or in their garage. We parked on the street since the garage was quite expensive.

The breakfast was very good with a buffet that provided everything we needed.

We would recommend this to everyone!

“Well located and clean, but spartan and drab”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 June 2011

I can't believe the hotel prices in Metz, and I checked out many hotels before booking. At 85 euros for a balcony room Hotel Escurial is barely two star, no fridge, meagre breakfast and appears to have been redecorated many years ago with the cheapest possible materials.

Our room was very clean, with a nice balcony and free WiFi, but that's all it had in its favour. The bed was small and very hard, the towels small and thin, the radiators didn't work. The bathroom is fine, with a good shower and plenty of hot water.

The hotel has no facilities apart from a drinks vending machine in the lounge.

We looked inside a couple of other Metz hotels (hoping to find a decent breakfast buffet) but they looked similar - shabby and run down.

“Conveniently positioned at a fair price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 March 2011

Conveniently positioned on the edge of the old town. Public parking nearby. Unpretentious entrance and reception. Lift. Small, modest but clean room. Brightly lit modern bathroom (state tub or shower). Ample french buffet breakfast served in an attractive lounge.bar on the first floor. Fair price for a city-centre hotel.

The customer service was excellent! Friendly staff explaining directions to main sites. Hotel was very clean. We had a perfect balcony view overlooking the city. The breakfast nook area had a classy area and the cost of the breakfast was included in the price.

“Clean, handy stop over hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2008

After 7 hours of driving back from the French Alps a stop over was needed. The hotel is very well located and easy to find from the motorway.

Very friendly assistance upon arrival and the lady also provided an excellent recommendation for an evening meal which was tasty, good value for money and great for teenagers!

The rooms are not particularly big (we didn't pay extra for the prestige rooms as indicated by another reviewer) but they are very clean and all you need for one night to rest and recoup.
