This classic hotel is well situated in Nancy, on stanislas place. Rooms are not design at all but the style here is more "french classic" but used. Very pleasant due to location, but it needs a refresh.

I spent four nights here attending a conference. It's a lovely hotel in a very good location in the heart of Nancy's 18C district. The conference rate made it good value, the rack rate would have made it ridiculously expensive. I didn't eat in the restaurant other than for breakfast. The conference facilities are good for small groups.
Just back from a stay of 2 nights in Grand Hotel de la Reine Nancy. Situated on the Place Stanislas, one of the most beautiful squares of France, this hotel looks very aristocrate and stylish. We booked months in advance a room with view on the Place, but we were given another one with a little salon, a dressing, and a correct bath room. This was proposed to us at a very interesting rate( 40% reduction). Breakfast buffet was OK, and we were pleased with the quality of a formal dinner with 150 persons in one of the very stylish salons. Yes, it is old fashioned, it has to be refurbished, but this is FRANCE!!! Even when the windows do not shut properly, the elevator is antique etc, it is charming and classy. For the rate we paid we got value for money. The location is really unforgettable.
There is no way this is a four-star hotel. While the hotel maintains a pristine façade and the rooms and lobby look exquisite from the website and brochures, this hotel is RUN DOWN and is in poor condition. The linens, furniture and appliances in the hotel all have seen better days and should be replaced. For a two-night stay I had to switch rooms TWO times. The first time because the AC didn’t work in my room and the second because my room was right next to the staff elevator and every time someone went up or down it made a terrible banging noise. Finally on the third try, I had a decent room that was quiet.
The poor state of the rooms and furnishing at this hotel is such a shame, since the staff was nice and the location was excellent. This hotel has such potential, and I really hope the management invests some money into the hotel to maintain the elegance that a hotel in this location should deserve.
Having read quite a few negative reviews of this hotel,my wife and I approached our 40th. wedding anniversary stay with some trepidation. We need not have worried ; our room was spotlessly clean, the staff more than helpful and informative, and the breakfast choice was brilliant. Bar drinks were expensive by UK standards, and we ate at the wide choice of cafes and restaurants in the immediate vicinity of the hotel.Refurbishment work seems to be going on at the hotel, and looks to be a long-term undertaking . However, those reviewers who complained about the flaking paint and cracked tiles in the bathroom---get a life! This is an 18th.Cent. building, and they are obviously working to improve overall appearances. For us, it added to the charm of the place, and one doesn't spend all day in the bathroom! Everything worked and we enjoyed it.
