Arrived in 6 classic cars to be told that the secure parking was full and that we would have to park in a public car park in town. At no point in the booking process were we told that we needed to pre-book the parking area. As we had booked 4 months in advance we could have easily arranged this, but the web booking process did not make it clear at all that there was limited space. This caused us much concern as two of the cars were convertibles and they were full of all our belongings from a camping trip. We were left worrying all night that our cars were safe and took it in turns to go and check them.
This however was just the start of our problems. Most of us were placed in smoking rooms. Mine was dirty with fag burns on the carpet, a broken blind and an acrid smell. This ment I was forced to try to sleep with the window open and was therefore woken before 07.00 by the local noise.
One of our party has asthma and requested to be moved to a non-smoking room. He was given a key to another smoking room which as well as stinking as badly as the origional, now came with the added bonus of a half empty bottle of whiskey left on the unmade bad. When he complained again they admitted that there were infact no non-smoking rooms available and dispite him booking well in advance he was stuck with one of the two rooms he had already rejected.
I asked to speak to the manager, who I was told was too busy to come to speak with me in reception. I found him in the attached hotel and challenged him about the issuses, only for him to agree that the web booking system was not up to much, say there was nothing he was prepared to do and that "if we didn't like it we should choose another hotel"
THE ONLY THING THIS PLACE DONE CORRECTLY WAS GIVE US SOME GOOD ADVICE FOR OUR NEXT TRIP TO NANCY.
