We had a wonderful stay at La Ferme Du Lac. It lived up to our expectations and more! The location was great, such beautiful countryside. Totally relaxing and fantastic that I could laze around in the sun with my glass of wine and book whilst the boys fished! The accommodation (we stayed in both a cottage by the lake and the exterior B&B room) was impeccably clean, pretty and comfortable. The food was fab; Steve, your chilli sauce with the bar be que is to die for- I am trying hard to recreate it, but I'm not there yet! and I loved the extra touch of the edible flowers with our meal on the last night. Peta, Steve, Sheila and John- you are wonderful hosts; allowing us the freedom to enjoy your beautiful 'La Ferme Du Lac' whilst also being on hand for help, advice or a chat. We found plenty to do in the area; Le Grand Lac was great and charged only 4 euros to use their large pool with waterslides (we had the pool to ourselves for an afternoon), go-karting, the market at Piegut and canoeing at Brantome. The mannequins at Marval are bizarre but what a great story to share with my friends!
We did a lot of research before chosing La Ferme Du Lac to try and find: great surroundings, clean andcomfortable accommodation, good value for money, a great location where the boys could fish, I could sun bathe comfortably and Jodie could swim; somewhere we could all relax and get away from it all , yet still having plenty to do within the area. A long wish list, I know but we were not disappointed! We'll be back.

We stayed over for one night in August on our trip South. We stayed in lovely connecting rooms with a bathroom between the two rooms. This was ideal as we could be together as a family without being crammed into one room. The price of the accommodation was less than our previous night's stay in Calais in an Etap where the anonymous soulless rooms stank of cigarette smoke.

We had a really good evening meal and a top rate breakfast the next morning to set us on our way.

I am really saddened when a place like Ferme du Lac gets negative reviews because it is obvious the family running this place are working so hard to create a welcoming and personalised stay.

A beautiful country house, woodern cabins and stone buildings surrounding by woodland and fishing lake.

Upon arrival my family and I (4 adults, 1 teenager and one 9 year old) were given a very warm welcome by the owners of the property with the offer of a nice cold drink on a very hot day.

My particular room was a quaint stone building attached to the main farm house overlooking the pretty gardens. The furnishings and amenities of the room were excellent and just what I wanted from a nice relaxing holiday.

We spent our days lazying about by the pool where the children spent many an hour splashing about or taking the resident dog Wolfie out for walks (or rather he took us) in the woods whilst the children and dog played in the stream. On more than one occasion we got a little lost whilst out walking but didnt worry as Wolfie always led us home.

Our evenings were spent being catered for by the family with some of the best food I have had in a long while, followed by a few glasses of vino and a game of cards. On one night a bonfire was lit and all the guests grabbed a chair and sat talking whilst enjoying a drink, the children toasted marshmellows and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

This property is ideal for anyone that likes to spend their days outside as the countryside is beautiful and worth exploring. If you have a car there are many local attractions with the lake and beach plus the market well worth a visit.

I was after a relaxing break and this is definately what I got. La Ferme du Lac provided a friendly athmosphere, good food, beautifull location, great accommodation with a chance to relax and unwind.

I dont normally write reviews, but felt the need following the terrible review about La Ferme Du Lac, funny thing is I was there at the same time as the people who say they didnt enjoy it, hmm they made no complaint during the stay?? in fact Pizza evening where the kids get to make there own pizzas and then eat them on my last night they attended and seemed to enjoy. Its made clear in the terms & conditions that payment is expected on arrival, so I have to ask why didnt they abide by the terms & conditions?? anyway enough about all of that, It was my 3rd visit, it was exceptional as always, Steve, Peta, Sheila, John and especially wolfie the dog were as welcoming as ever, accommodation fantastic, food was excellent, location and scenery stunning!! Looking forward to returning very soon for some more R & R
