Unfortunately this relatively new property is being allowed to deteriorate rather rapidly due to the absence of proper maintenance. The plumbing fittings in the bathroom are quite cheap and at least in our room were leaky and very unpleasant to use. Water came out of the showerhead through multiple pinholes in places that were NOT supposed to be water jets, rather they were holes in the plastic. The result was that the floor in the bathroom was totally soaked after even a short shower. The aerator in the sink sprayed water straight at us when we tried to wash our hands, wetting our shirts.
The location is a couple of kms outside of Uzes, in a residential neighborhood. Unfortunately, although the distance is walkable, the walk is unpleasant and potentially dangerous, with very narrow streets not really safe to walk on with traffic (often fast) coming through also. We also encountered an especially aggressive dog a few blocks from the hotel on one of these narrow roads. His owners appear oblivious to the fact that it is very impolite to leave your dog to roam when he growls and shows his teeth in a very threatening manner as you try to walk down the street. We mention this only because this street is one street you must walk down if you want to walk to town from this hotel, and we encountered this dog almost every time we walked into town.
The breakfast was ok but the food was often not fresh. The amiable owners appear to have decided to economize by not hiring desk staff (doing the job themselves) however as a result they seem worn out and they are not around except if other check ins are expected. The result is essentially no service a lot of the time, unless you want to call them which would get tedious (we did not). The WiFi worked some of the time and sometimes not; we did not bother to call the owners, but if there had been someone at the desk we would have pointed this out.
This is not the first time we have stayed here but unfortunately we think it will be our last. The owners of this property need to do a "mid-course correction" on their property; it is cute and it has some nice features but if allowed to continue to deteriorate, it will turn into a business that is only occupied during August when the French take their vacations en masse, and every habitable hotel bed in the country is full.
