““Comfortable - and excellent value””
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

Hotel St Genies is about 1.75k from Uzes, in a quiet area on the outskirts of the town; it is well signposted and not at all difficult to locate. There is on-site cap parking
All rooms have been recently renovated, have flat screen TV and are air-conditioned. Ours was a large, twin room with a great bathroom and an especially good shower. There are electric shutters on the window to keep out noise and light.
Breakfast was served on the terrace – indoors on one cool morning – and comprised cereals, breads and pastries, juice, fruit, cold meats and cheese and scrambled eggs to order. Tea and coffee were delivered to the table.
The terrace overlooks a garden and play area and the swimming pool is a delight to return to after a hot day’s travelling. Towels and free WiFi are readily available.
Rik and his wife speak excellent English and were endlessly helpful, even recommending – and booking for us – accommodation at our next destination.
Within very easy reach – less than an hour’s drive – are Nimes, Avignon, Pont du Gard and the Haribo Bon Bon Museum.
This is a clean, extremely comfortable establishment and is excellent value.
For a quick, cheap ‘n’ cheerful meal, try the pizzas at “Au Petit Creux,” about 600 meters away; for something a little more substantial we found “Pizza du Duche,”in Rue Jacques dÚzes, in the town, to be good value.

“Very comfortable and quiet hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 June 2011

We stayed here for one night, arriving without a reservation. We were lucky to get the last room, which had a separate entrance and a nice balcony overlooking the pool (we did not use the pool because it was raining heavily - which also meant that we did not miss the air conditioning!). Room was very pleasant and clean. Bed was comfortable and the hotel is located in a very quiet area, so we got an excellent night's sleep.

The breakfast cost extra, but is good value, offering a good choice of bread, croissants, fruit, cereal, ham, cheese, fruit juice, and fried or scrambled eggs.

Centre of town is about 20-30 minutes walk away. Free parking in the hotel grounds.

“Great Night's Sleep! Wonderful Hosts!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 May 2011

We arrived on our bicycles after a long, hot ride. The pool was refreshing. The rooms small but comfortably appointed and peaceful. The beds comfortable. The breakfast was excellent more that filling. We look forward to the return. The internet was excellent with one exception every time you wanted to access it you were required to enter a long password. This was cumbersome.

“Excellent value, peaceful location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 May 2011

On our first visit to Uzes, we chose this hotel with only Trip Advisor to go on and were really pleasantly surprised. What it lacks in 'olde worlde charm' it thoroughly makes up for in value for money and comfort, with free parking within the grounds.
It is a newish build hotel, on the northern outskirts of the town, in a semi-residential area.
SInce the last review, the hotel has been completely refurbished. Our room, though not large, had everything we needed, tastefully decorated, and looked as though no-one had even used it since it was refurbished. They have obviously put in new insulation and aircon to address previous problems.
Apparently, only the beds have not been replaced new - they are 4 years old, and 140cm wide, so not the largest. Otherwise, the en suite shower room was large, the shower big and the shower jet powerful, with plenty of hot water, with a wall-mounted hairdryer. Free Wifi, a flat screen TV, and towels provided for the swimming pool, which is large and deep enough to have a good swim, with sun loungers around it and a table-tennis table in the same area. There is a pleasant garden with lawns, flower beds and picnic tables, plus a lovely terrace with marble tables where you can take breakfast - no other meals provided.
Some rooms overlook the garden and distant views, others just the hedge at the back, but we were offered a choice and we chose one at the rear because the shower room was larger. There are electrically operated shutters, lined curtains, double glazing, and airconditioning.
The breakfast was excellent for a 2* hotel - plenty of choice, including cereals, cheese, meat and patisseries and bread, plus choice of fruit juices and jams, and offer of eggs. Coffee came to our table in a large insulated jug - more than enough for both of us.
It's true that it is quite a stroll into town, it took 20-25 minutes. However, it was a pleasure to arrive and to have a swim to cool down in a semi-rural situation, after a hectic day sightseeing, and to stroll back after eating out in town in the evening.
It would be ideal for families with young children, there were toys set out on the terrace, plenty of outdoor space, and the pool is enclosed by childproof railings and gate.
The host and hostess are from Flemish speaking Belgium, and were pleasant and chatty.
It would not surprise me to see this hotel upgraded from 2* to 3* shortly, given the facilities provided. In the meantime, it's great value. We paid 65€ for the room, and 8.50€ each for breakfast.
Atogether, a really great experience, and I'd recommend it to anyone.

“Lovely hotel close to Uzes town centre”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2010

We loved this little hotel. the rooms are a little dated but they are closing down this November 2010 until March 2011 to upgrade the rooms.

The staff are friendly, the pool is peaceful and clean. there is a small kiddies play area outside the front which is nice if you're travelling with young kids.

There's plenty of parking spaces directly outside the front of the hotel. They close the main gates at 9pm but you are given a code to get in after then.

Uzes town centre is amazing. We loved it, there are tons of shops and restaurants, try and seek out Place Aux Herbes which is a square full of wonderful restaurants.

We only stayed for one night but are intending on going back next year for a few days.

We drove to Chateauneuf-du Pape which was about a 30 minute drive, and what a beautiful drive it was. It was just how imagined France to be. Tree lined avenues with mile upon mile of vineyards.

The weather was amazing, 37 degrees in late August which was great...

I would reccommend this to anyone wanting to experience the real France with the added bonus of being close some amazing wine growing regions
