Hotel St Genies is about 1.75k from Uzes, in a quiet area on the outskirts of the town; it is well signposted and not at all difficult to locate. There is on-site cap parking
All rooms have been recently renovated, have flat screen TV and are air-conditioned. Ours was a large, twin room with a great bathroom and an especially good shower. There are electric shutters on the window to keep out noise and light.
Breakfast was served on the terrace – indoors on one cool morning – and comprised cereals, breads and pastries, juice, fruit, cold meats and cheese and scrambled eggs to order. Tea and coffee were delivered to the table.
The terrace overlooks a garden and play area and the swimming pool is a delight to return to after a hot day’s travelling. Towels and free WiFi are readily available.
Rik and his wife speak excellent English and were endlessly helpful, even recommending – and booking for us – accommodation at our next destination.
Within very easy reach – less than an hour’s drive – are Nimes, Avignon, Pont du Gard and the Haribo Bon Bon Museum.
This is a clean, extremely comfortable establishment and is excellent value.
For a quick, cheap ‘n’ cheerful meal, try the pizzas at “Au Petit Creux,” about 600 meters away; for something a little more substantial we found “Pizza du Duche,”in Rue Jacques dÚzes, in the town, to be good value.
