The hotel is 2 minutes across the park to to the start of the old town but maybe 10 mins to the epicentre. The park in front of the hotel is lovely and peaceful and great for relaxing.
The palais de congres is also in by the park where the tourist office is and there is a fantastic foundation which lights up at night (between 9.30 - 10.00 pm - don't miss) and puts on a great show.
We stayed in room 107 (junior suite) which are larger than standard rooms and the only one we could see that had a balcony so request107

The pool area at the top was great for the hot weather but use the lift . My wife fell on the concrete stairs after a swim. we needed to call the doctor and the hotel staff (especially Lawrence (probably spelt wrong as she is German) were excellent. Lawrence rang a doctor and translated all the symptoms.

breakfast was 10 euros per person for what looked like standard faire. We didn't bother and went to the local supermarket (immediate right out of hotel, down the alley, left and across at the lights - it's called 8 tiill 8). this was much cheaper but we would recommend bringing a travel kettle and coffee. If you don't get room 107 you could always eat your goodies in the park.

finally, we flew in from Manchester and you can get the no 19 bus to the airport from the castillet at 12.00 midday for 1.2 euro - this is the best option

Pleasant staff with reasonable command of english for poor french speaker such as ourselves. Good clean rooms and comfy beds - roof top pool a bonus for hot weather.overlooking the park. No 1 bus to rail station and beach 30 mins] just across the park - 1.10 Euro& Canet Beach lovely. Nightlife when we were there in early in Aug limited - coloured fountains in park the hi ghlight. Enjoyable stay.

Booked in the hotel at 22.30 pm by Henri the receptionist that evening. The room provided to us was a double room but we had booked a junior suite. No problem. Apologised for error and given new room.
Staff were very friendly and helpful and went out of their way to answer our every question providing directions, services etc in a very competent manner.
During our stay my wife developrd a problem with her foot and had to go to the local hospital. The only way for us to get around during our stay was to hire a wheechair which the hotel located for us and had it delivered at a very reasonable cost of 16 euros for the week. Without this my wife would have been more or less confined to the hotel.
On our last day there, although we were not leaving the hotel until 19.30 pm in the evening the hotel were happy for us to use the facilities of the hotel and I was able to shower and change before my trip home.
On arrival at the airport we found that our flight had been delayed until the next morning. The airline left everyone stranded and we were told that we could not stay at the airport overnight as the airport closed down at 22.00 hours. Mad panic as everyone was frantically looking for hotels to stay in that night. We rang the hotel to find Henri on duty and he was more than happy to accommodate us even giving us our old room back.
I will certainly be returning to this delightful hotel which has a great roof terrace pool and is located in a very quiet part of the city with a lovely park to walk through in the morning.
The only down point was that the restaurant is not open in July and August for meals in the evening but there again Perpignan has 123 restaurants and you should be able to find at least a few to your liking.

In June 2008, I booked 2 rooms (1 twin, 1 single) for 3 days in December but, due to a change in plans, I had to cancel the booking in July. This week (8 October), I find the hotel has charged 163 euros to my credit card. I have tried to contact the hotel through its website but it is all in French (no alternate languages but that's no problem) and it will not accept postal codes that include letters.
