Things may have changed since I stayed there, they were in the process of renovating the rooms, but we disliked it so much, we cancelled our booking after the first night. The hotel is well away from the centre and there's no easy way to get there; we took a taxi from the staion, but other than that you have to walk, and through a quite seedy area. We weren't very sure of being safe, and wouldn't risk it after dark.
The hotel overlooks a park, but is on a main road, which is very busy, with constant traffic. The dining room had been renovated and was very nice, and the food was quite good. Breakfast was another matter altogether, though. The breakfast room was tatty, we were given dirty cups to drink from - and I do mean dirty! Someone had obviously already drunk coffee from them and they had been put out again for our use without being washed! When we asked the waiter for clean cups, he was very sullen, and complained about the English being so fussy!
Our room was a nightmare of garish orange on roughly plastered walls, and old, rather smelly furniture. The bed was so smelly we could hardly bring ourselves to get into it, and the carpet was dirty. When we went to reception to complain an cancel our remaining nights, the girl wasn't suprised at all, and simply agreed. She also said we wouldn't be charged anything.
