“Dismal”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2011

I put rubbish in the bin - the next day it was taken out and put on the desk.
Was meant to manage with three tiny shower gels for 5 nights.
Breakfast lacked much in the way of fresh food.
Staff were often absent (within hours of service).
Sick right outside the hotel (within its boundaries) took four days to clear.
Internet (not wireless) was patchy.
Fridge was very noisy.

“Probably one of the best options in Perpignan”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 July 2010

We had to stay for three nights in Perpignan and it was not that easy to find the right accommodation. Usually I prefer hotels with a higher standard; however, there are none in Perpignan. The Citea is an appartment hotel - we had superior studio on the 10th (highest) floor. The room included a kitchenette, including a stove, microwave, coffee machine, dishes, cuttlery - but unfortunately no kettle. Everything - the room, the bath, the kitchenette - was simple, but very clean.

We had a nice view from the balcony over Perpignan. Unfortunately, there is no lightning on the balcony and no additional chairs or a table is provided.

The air conditioning worked very well - a must in summer in Southern France. Some other hotels in Perpignan didn't provide an A/C in the rooms, according to other travellers we've met.

The location is very close (3 - 5 minutes) to the centre. Some shops (Galerie Lafayette, Schlecker) are just a minute away. We didn't try the breakfast (7.50 Euro per person per day).

The bed was comfortable, but very narrow. And the "double bed" were in fact two beds standing together - you find this quite often in France. We got a username and password for the free WiFI. However, I've never got a signal. I didn't try out the broadband cable in the room.

I would stay there again.

“The best hotel in Perpiganan”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 June 2010

This was my second stay at perpignan citea this year, I wouldn't stay anywhere else. It is new, clean, and has a great location. It has a small 'kitchenette' in the room, with fairly well stocked cupboards - but being French has a coffee perculator but no kettle!
The maids clean the rooms every day, but if you want to use the kitchenette you are to clean that yourself - they sell cleaning packs for 3Euro at reception.
It is a 2 min walk in one direction to Le Castillet, near to where the local buses run, or in the other direction to the buses for out of town. The train station is a 15 min walk, and one taxi driver quoted me 10Euro.
The staff speak good English and are quite helpful. There is also a Launderette hidden near to reception, which cost me about 6Euro for one wash.

“You're in trouble if you arrive late...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2009

We were delayed arriving in Perpignan.

The Citea reception is unstaffed after 8pm and there is no way of contacting anyone to let you into your room.

Be warned.

“Don't go before next year!... or later... (or never)”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2009

Go there if you don't want to sleep and like being treated like cattle: "pay (in advance) and shut up!"
Horrible noise 24h from the building site nearby!!
We were told : "You are not important because you are here for one night only..."
The bedroom may be clean and new, but the first thing you want in a hotel is to sleep, and that was not possible even with the best earplugs! The only response from the staff was to laugh at us!! Not a friendly word, and no discount of course.
It seems that they don't want people to return. For sure I won't return!

Other things to know : "double" beds are for 1 1/2 person (120cm).
Internet is via cable only; no wifi so far.
