“What is special about it?!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2010

We recently stayed there for one night on the way to Spain.
As we could not find a convenient hotel with good reviews inside Nimes, we booked this hotel. We don't understand why so many people loved this place. Maybe expectation is different...?!
As you enter the main gate (there are 2 gates) you see, on the right hand side, the run-down inn with a tennis facility. If that place is being used or is renovated, this hotel would look more attractive. We were asked to park under the trees along the drive way which was very dark at night. It was outside of the hotel gate and I was not sure it was safe.
When we arrived, the receptionist did not check our IDs and he gave us a key without welcoming while he was chatting with someone on the phone.
Next morning when we tried to check out, a person who was at the reception sounded like she was not supposed to be there and she complained she was unable to print out copies of invoices. There were 6 people trying to check out at 8:15AM but all of us had to wait until the receptionist got ready to work.
However, only two things I could say about this hotel - our room was large enough for 4 people and cheap (rate excluding breakfast - 40 Euro for 4 people!?? You could get breakfast for 4 people at Ladurée in Paris at same amount...)

“Something delightfully different”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2010

We spent three nights here and found the experience delightful. I don't understand how anyone could describe the owners as 'hideous people'. We found them to be consistently helpful, cheerful and hospitable. Like most French hotels, the rooms tend to be pretty small, but they have everything you need. Our only problem here was that there really was nowhere to put a second suitcase, and two people traveling will inevitably have more than one. This is a restored farmhouse and the wall that the rooms look out on is ancient and beautiful. We were on the ground floor and french doors opened onto a small patio with a table and two chairs. Yes, the place is out of town, but anyone who bothers to check its location or read the directions will already know that. The instructions on the web site about locating the hotel are clear and our Garmin GPS found it with no trouble at all. First impressions are that the place is sparkling clean and smells glorious - lavender, fresh air and the countryside. Free wifi helped us stay in touch. Funny how, in three weeks traveling in Spain and France, we never once had to pay for internet access until our final night when we stayed at a Holiday Inn at Toulouse Airport. Breakfast and dinner at this hotel were served on the terrace by the pool. This is a lovely location but take something to keep warm as the evenings can be nippy. I suspect dinners may not be served during the colder months and I believe that breakfasts move inside. Meals each of the three nights were splendid, three courses, each with a focus on quality. Make sure you ask about prices as there appeared to be no actual wine list and we have no one but ourselves to blame for ordering expensive bottles of wine each night. We simply failed to ask.

“Perfect end to a perfect holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2010

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel for the last two nights of our holiday travelling around France - in Sept 2010. It was a perfect end to a perfect holiday.

We found the hotel with no problems, its well sign posted.

The driveway is all pebbled and full of trees, its really nice. The Hotel is situated on the left hand side (theres another one on the right, but it looked unused).

The Hotel itself is gorgeous, really homely and welcoming. The staff were so friendly (run by a family).

Our room was lovely, we had a very comfy bed with lots of pillows, good storage, TV and lamps. There were patio doors that lead you to a small sitting area right outside, perfect wee suntrap, we spotted lots of lizards!

Theres a pool area with loungers and seats, its really peaceful, we saw butterflies and could hear an owl, you really do feel away from the city and the busy streets.

We had breakfast at the pool area, was really nice. Coffee / fruit juice / croissants / bread / jam / cheese / ham / salami / yogurts / etc! It was 10euros per person.

We also had dinner there twice, you have to try it, the food was amazing and the presentation was professional. For a 3 course its 25euros, one night we had fish to start, pork for main and pear tart. The other night we had tomato salad to start, squid and potato sort of soup or stew and mint&chocolate mousse. This was one of the best meals we had ever had and we were ate out for 16 nights in all over France.

You will not be disappointed with this hotel. It may not be central, but if you are looking for somewhere to chill either at the start or the end of your holiday, or just a few days away its perfect.

Contact me if you have any questions. Attached some pics!

“Hideous people”

I wish you the best if you do decide to book this hotel, but I would highly recommend that you carefully look at other comments regarding their service before doing so. I have never ever written an online review before, but the behavior of this hotel's staff was simply despicable.

The staff claimed that there was some water problems with the room that we had booked and they had called us on the day of arrival, telling us to basically 'go away'. (They had chosen some - supposedly higher rated hotel - that looked like a hospital building and was more than 10 kms away in the center of the city for us.) Unbelievably, this person insulted my wife and I when we finally arrived at Le Pre Galoffre to demand a proper explanation because they had ruined our plans for the day. The staff complained repeatedly that the hotel was losing 85 euros (due to their own problem with the room) and that we should be grateful that they were offering to pay an additional 40 euros for the alternative hotel. We left taking the information of the alternative hotel, but my wife decided that she wanted to stay elsewhere as she did not want to have anything else to do with this person. We thought that they would be happy that they did not have to pay the extra 40 euros, but now they are claiming that we had 'committed' to staying at the alternative hotel and are charging us the 85 euros!!! To be honest, that amount of money is laughable for us and we feel deeply sorry for the pathetic staff.

Perhaps this hotel is very good from a materialistic viewpoint, but I am sure that there are many other more decent human beings that are more deserving of your business.

“Beautiful hotel just outside Nimes”

We loved this hotel, the driveway and grounds are lovely and our room was gorgeous. The entrance hall and corridors are beautifully decorated and we particularly enjoyed having breakfast by the pool. We had a very warm welcome and the hotel was easy to reach from Nimes.
