“Depressing and Disappointed.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 July 2011

I arrived expecting to have "renovations" as so many had explained in reviews. Unfortunately, there were few real improvements. The lobby was updated by adding new leather couches (black and red) and some statues of animals and vases. This was mixed in with dying plants, chipping paint, and an overall lack for attention to cleanliness and detail.
I went up the elevator which was looked as though it had never been vacuumed. I walked the dark (a few lights were out) stained carpet hallway to my room after the hotel staff had trouble finding my reservation. Sidenote: The staff seemed run down and confused, making several mistakes with room keys and internet questions during my one night stay. The room was dated and covered in dust. The shower was old and worn. I took one shower and attempted to use the hairdryer and part of it fell off. The corners of the room were stained and when I pulled back the covers on the bed, there was hair (that was NOT mine). I complained and was shown a "better" room.
The gentleman was very friendly and aimed to please. He explained he had purchased it and was "renovating."
The new room I was shown was not much better, but I agreed as I didn't know what else to do. This room had new carpet and a flat screen TV and new curtains. Again, the bathroom seemed unclean with mold in the corners. The room was covered in a layer of dust and again the covers had hair (that was NOT mine).
I had a difficult time sleeping that night. The air conditioner barely worked and I woke up in a sweat several times. I was supposed to stay 3 nights, but made arrangements to go to a hotel closer to the city center. It was well worth the switch. I was VERY happy with my new accommodations.
The Holiday Inn is not located near anything and difficult to get to if you do not have a car. For those traveling to see Nimes, the parking costs alone are worth staying closer to the city center.
The Holiday Inn hotel does have secure parking and a renovated bar. Unfortunately, the owner/manager seems to be someone who has little experience in hotels. This place is in need of a bucket of hot water, bleach, and a new coat of paint before any new leather furniture is mixed in with the dust ridden, hair covered, pieces already in the room.

Room Tip: Not well cleaned or maintained. Bring BLEACH!

“reasonable service despite renovation in progress”

we found the hotel undergoing renovation which was clearly needed since it looked run down. The room was nice, 50 inches TV set, quiet at night. As usual for holiday Innn Express location was in a suburb but easy to reach by car. Excellent free WIFI. Good breakfast included. The restaurant was almost empty but the food was good.
price was very reasonable

We were there for two days which was fine, and a longer stay would have been probably fine as well.
The bed was comfortable and the room large enough and recently renovated
The staff was very nice and did fufill all our request.

“Excellent reception staff badly let down by poor waiting staff and food”

Recently stayed (June 2010) in this hotel for over-night stay. Excellent and very helpful reception staff at check-in and check-out who very very badly let down by poor decor and very poor waiting staff in the restaurant. Despite asking for an English menu we ordered in French only to be given an English menu for dessert by the same waitress who claimed that she didn't know that we were English-speaking! Food very poor quality and served the wrong wine in the wrong size bottle (ordered a half bottle and not a full one) at the wrong (more expensive) price. Loose electrical sockets in the rooms with bare wires in places and poor air conditioning - 32C outside so was needed.

“Worst breakfast ever.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 May 2010

The hotel was a little further from the town than we would have liked on an out of town retail park. The receptionist was pleasant and the room was OK but a little worn. The secure, free parking was excellent. We were staying over a weekend and the hotel was very quiet with seemingly only a few guests so we didn't use the restaurant as we would have been the only diners but there was a very nice but very busy Countepaille just 2 minutes walk away which was really good value. The breakfast however was unbelievably bad, perhaps because there were only a few guests, but apart from some cereal, bread, jam and yoghurt the only thing on display was 4 very tired sausages in a pool of grease. We had a cold coffee and cereal and then left somewhat disappointed. Apart from the breakfast the hotel wasn't bad value and Nimes and the Camargue are very well worth making a trip for.
There was no free internet and it was quite expensive to buy.
