“Nice hotel”

I staryed 4 nights here on business. Having stayed in many hotels, it was nice to stay in a room that wasnt the standard functional square. The hotel is built around a swimming pool, which when the weather is pleasant is a great way to end a day. Didnt eat there so cant comment on restaurant. about 20 minute walk to town, but the flip side is it has parking, which is difficult to find in town. Would recommend this a base for business or pleasure. and try and get a room upstairs by reception, you get your own balcony which is a sun trap in the evening

“Fab hotel - great place to stay in Nimes”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2010

We had 3 nights at the L'Orangerie. Its slightly on the outskirts of Nimes on the main road so easy to get to but still in an attractive green setting. I chose the out of town location as it had free parking and you could still walk to the arena in about 20-25min. Many hotels in the centre don't have any parking. Whilst a little bit of a trek, the walk into town is fine and feels very safe. The hotel has loads of character - the rooms seem to be individually styled (we returned again a week later and had a different room). Both were nice, spacious and very clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful on reception even though we spoke no french. The restaurant was also very popular although I didn't try it myself. Outside is a small pool area and some rooms have terraces which overlook it. My only criticism would be that there wasn't a very wide range on offer at breakfast - no hot buffet and limited fruit/cereal - so we didn't opt for it the next day. However I would definitely recommend this hotel and had no hesitation in re-booking when we returned to Nimes.

“You won't be disappointed if you set your expectations low enough”

We stayed here last summer for two nights. We had diffuculty getting a reservation because of Bastille Day, and this place was one of the few still with availability. I guessed that was bad omen, and set my expectatations prettty low. The hotel is off a highway; there are no sights to see within walking distance. The hotel is surrounded by fruit trees, which was pleasant. The check-in area and dining rooms were suprisingly nice. The hallways were very dark. The rooms were sub-par - on the level of a bad Days Inn. The bathroom was old with cracked tiles and chipped grout. The room was tiny. I think we did get free internet. We were lead to believe that breakfast was included - it was not. I thought the breakfast was pretty good, although probably not a good value. You could eat inside, or outdoors on a nice patio.

“Fantastic hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2009

We stayed for 3 nights from August 2nd, and really couldn't have been more pleased with this hotel. The rooms are not large, but comfortable, and the setting and general ambience was lovely. The hotel has a wonderful chef, and we certainly had some lovely meals during our stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful also.

“Elegant and Relaxing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 June 2009

We stayed only a night coming back from a road trip on the Atlantique France so we were very tired when we got there, but service was polite. It is near the autoroute but is surrounded by trees and there was a peaceful place with private parking, garden, a swimming-pool with deckchairs. Room was wonderful, large, elegant, franch design, rococo and touile de jouy style everywhere. Bathroom large and functional. and.. free wi-fi!
