We stayed on night at the New Hotel La Baume. The best part of the hotel is the beautiful stone staircase that leads to all the rooms. It is truly magnificient and even more impressive than it looks on the hotel's website.
Our room was OK. It was very well-equipped and reasonably large for a French hotel, but the decoration was beginning to tire ... it could use a new coat of paint. The bed was comfortable, though, and the room was clean.
My problem was the ventillation was poor. It could not be controlled in the room and the temperature during the night seemed to vary greatly. It was never freezing or boiling in the room, but the blanket was kicked off, then pulled up, then kicked off again ... you get the picture.
I also did not like the fact the there was no door to the shower and wash basin (there was a door to the toilet room). Washing hands in the night meant awakening my partner. In addition, the wash basin was on one side of the room and the toilet was on the other ... there was a lot of fumbling around in the middle of the night.
The buffet breakfast was OK ... we had a package that included a free breakfast, but you may find better elsewhere if you are paying, depending on the cost..
The service was OK. We did not ask for anything other than directions, but they were given cheerfully and carefully.
Altogether it was a good experience, although the climate control in the room hurt my overall impression.
